Hi! I've just been contacted as regards a case of plagiairsm in Roswell icons. I know it's a bit far from our main focus etc, but I feel that we should handle it. Does everyone else feel the same? Or do people feel that we should stick to one area?

I'd really appreciate people's views.

Theft is theft. Sounds like we have the beginning of an investigation. Might as well see it through.

Sadly(?-am I insane?) it doesn't seem like there is much investigation to be done - the person in question's admitted to it, apologised, and says that it was an accident involving moving things around folders.

I was thinking of sending her a sort of caution/we're watching you email, and going for the whole "if she's sorry, she'll accept it with grace and that won't matter, if she's not then she deserves it anyway" thing, and then putting her on a sort of "Be Aware Of" list.

Hah! Well, we can only hope. ;)

If an investigation can be done, I think we should go for it. It's a more grey area, but it's still plagiarism.

I know - and it becomes more grey because the perpetrator seems to have 'made a mistake' (the inverted commas may be a bit cynical) and has apologised profusely (and to my ears it sounds genuine, which is annoying).

I agree with estepheia. If time-wise it is doable to expand in that direction, then I say go for it.

As I was saying to bogwitch the expansion does seem a bit insane - from Buffy fic to Roswell icons - but then I s'pose it's all part of the online fan community.

Besides, I don't think we should turn people away.
