Who: allfatherissues and get_hammered. AGAIN. GEEZ YOU GUYS. What: A walk and a talk. When: In the afternoon. Where: In the park. Warnings: Heartfelt conversations (tainted with lies and deceit).
It was still amazing to Thor that gardens such as this could even exist on a vessel. He had visited them a few times, as it was one of the only places that didn't seem completely foreign to him. He walks the paths with no particular destination, trusting to his instincts to locate his brother.
He's not sure why Loki wishes to speak with him. Their last meeting hadn't gone well, and Thor had left Loki alone since then. He hopes this will be a reconciliation between them, but he learned long ago that predicting what Loki will do is usually an impossible task.
He walks a fair distance into the park before he sees Loki. Thor walks over and sits at the other end of the bench.
Thor's footsteps in the grass, a soft and rhythmic thudding sound, is heard long before Loki feels the slight movement of the bench under his brother's weight, long before his deep greeting reaches his ears. He turns his head, his ever-searching gaze taking in his brother's demeanour and appearance as per usual - such a gaze immediately lands upon something of particular interest placed upon Thor's chest. A label, plastic and square, that read:
"Hello! My name is: THOR"
That elicits a laugh out of him, and though he nearly rolls his eyes at it, that much was at least not an act on his part.
Forever oblivious, no matter how much you say you've changed.
"Hello..." Loki starts, pausing and feigning hesitance. He then reaches out with one hand, a slender finger landing upon that forgotten badge on his brother's person. "Ah. Thor. It is fortunate you have such an item, as I'm often prone to forgetting your name."
Thor more than likely won't be oblivious to the sarcasm, at least.
A look of confusion crosses Thor's face when Loki's first response to his greeting is to laugh at him. Not that Loki being amused at his expense is anything new, but it was somewhat unexpected in this case. Then Loki draws his attention to the badge his employers gave him, and he scowls.
"Apparently this is required for all those who work at Thormart," he replies, with an exasperated twist of his lips for the ridiculous name of the store. "There is also a uniform, but they felt my armor was more appropriate for my position."
He removes the badge and puts it away. He considers himself fortunate indeed to not have to wear the clothing that the other employees wear. He's no expert on fashion, especially alien fashion, but he's fairly certain the uniform would be considered ugly by most standards.
Should Loki ever have the (mis)fortune of seeing Thor wear a Thormart employee's uniform, his brother may never ever hear the end of it. Thor should consider himself lucky that Loki is limited to directing all of his patronization to that little name badge instead.
But the item in question is tucked away, of course, and so the Trickster shifts his weight slightly to lean against the back of the bench, his tone of voice losing its edge of sarcasm and taking on a questioning quality.
"Appropriate? I wonder. Exactly how many young alien children have you had this day alone, tugging at your cape?"
Loki won't be so generous as to get to the material point of this meeting just yet. His brother is uncomfortable, he can tell that much - but he won't hurry on his account alone.
"Seventeen," Thor immediately replies, with a tired sigh. "And a few that were not children and should be old enough to know better. These alien customs are quite strange." He decides not to mention the four requests to 'touch his hammer'. There's no point in giving Loki more reasons to laugh at him.
For a moment the banter between them is comfortable, the way things used to be. Thor is reluctant to bring that to an end. It's too easy to forget all the angry words spoken, both here and back in Asgard. But he's also curious to find out why Loki wanted to see him.
"Is this why you wanted to meet, brother? To ask me how I am faring at the job you chose for me?"
