Finding it a unique treat to be able to travel the ship without wading through darkness, getting the distance of an oncoming object confused, or stopping to catch his breath, it was almost like a curious child that Kiriko investigated the ship. He had always known how lucky he had been to retain his vision after his first accident, but now that he had spontaneously recovered from blindness, he couldn't be more appreciative of the gift of sight. He soaked everything in... the sight of the stars out the portholes, the landscape of the gardens, even people going about their mundane lives. Walking quietly through the food court, Kiriko marvelled at his new ability to finally see other Thorians without his imagination ( ... )

At the sound of his father's name, Ed looked up from his paper. He'd noticed, as the years went on, that he'd begun to look more and more like Hohenheim, but actually getting mistaken for him didn't happen very often. There weren't many people left who had seen, let alone met his father. About to correct the misconception, he paused as he realized he recognized the man. Strong jaw, sharp nose, blue eye...s, though the hair was shorter. He was younger, much younger than he'd ever seen him, but the features were still the same. A small smile pulled at the corner of his mouth.

"My, you're looking quite young, Kiriko."

Ed's voice wasn't quite as deep as Hohenheim's became, though it was similar to how it had been when he was younger. Ed had never heard his father that young though, so he wasn't aware of it.

Though there was a discrepancy in the voice, Hohenheim seemed to recognize him. It must be him! Assuming Edward was still running around as a child, it hadn't occurred to Kiriko that it might be the son instead. Kiriko stared down at the floor, troubled and a little ashamed. Though they hadn't parted on good terms, Kiriko had genuinely looked up to the man.

"It's... it's been awhile.."

"Has it? Doesn't seem all that long to me."

Of course, that was because he'd seen Kiriko only that morning, in his own time-stream. Ed motioned to a waitress for another mug and poured some coffee for the other man.

"Why don't you sit down?"

Greed was quite fed up with all these fucking kids running around everywhere. He couldn't even walk home from the Devil's Nest without tripping over some snot nosed little brat. Hell, he couldn't even avoid it by going home now that Ed was like five or something. At least he tended to shut up if you gave him a book or something, but damn.

Whatever, at least he and Ling had managed to avoid the Drive's effects this time around. There was nothing fun about being stuck in a tiny human's body. As annoying as this was, at least he'd gotten lucky as far as that went. It didn't mean he was going to bitch about it any less, though.

He was about to turn and snap at some shitty kid that had darted in front of him and nearly tripped him, when something caught his eye. No, that guy had left a while ago, right? What was he doing here all of a sudden?

"Hohenheim. Where the hell did you come from?" Greed so eloquently asked, approaching the bearded man.

Ed almost snorted his coffee up his nose as Greed walked up. And for a moment, he forgot he was in the past.

"Seriously, Greed. Seriously? It was funny the first time you called me that, but come on. You're not mad about last night still are you?"

Greed paused in his tracks and made a face. Something wasn't quite right here. Hohenheim sounded kind of off, and he kind of seemed more senile than Greed was used to. Not that Greed really spoke to him much while he was on board, but still.

"Are you off your rocker, old man? What last night?"

"Old? Old? You are mad. Look, I'll find you another bottle of... whatever it was we broke, okay?"

Ed sighed and rubbed his forehead. It's not like he'd meant to break the bottle of, apparently, extremely rare and extremely expensive liquor.

Though Polly would always hold tea close to her heart, she had learned the value of stronger drink of many kinds, over the years. As such, when she meandered into the Café for a cup or two, she almost stumbled over her own feet, seeing the older Ed.

For a moment, she thought she'd gone through another time skip, given that she'd been there to witness his slow transformation into the spitting image of his father, and she cast a wary glance around to see if anything else had changed when she wasn't looking.

Once she'd reassured herself of the proper time and place of things, she let herself relax, wandering over and plopping into a seat across from him.

"Well, well, here's someone I haven't seen in a while."

As if a while could accurately describe a span of over a century...

Lowering his paper, Ed smiled as he saw who sat across from him.

"Hello, Polly."

He eyed her attire, a little curious. The black was a bit different... and had he ever seen her wear her hair in a braid before.

She raised an eyebrow, watching him watching her. Leaning back in her chair, she toed another closer, propping her booted feet up on it. She gave him a devil-may-care little grin.

"Guess the Drive's really playing with you, this time around. At least it's not as disorienting as the first time around, huh?"

"Indeed it is. It is a little scary for a five year old to be someplace unfamiliar, even for as adventuresome one as I was. Right now trying to keep all the timelines straight in my head is the interesting part. I remember being five this morning, though I also recall having coffee with Kiriko. I like to think I stopped being surprised by it years ago, but sometimes it still succeeds."
