[Chiyo was very excited when Gon invited her to this little outing! it was unexpected, sure, but hey! she's not one to pass up a chance to hang out with a friend. even if she was, er, sort of intimidated by Gon's other friend... but he had to be nice! ... right?

... actually, what should be more of a concern is the fact that Chiyo has absolutely no skill in anything that involves physical ability. WHOOPS. she intently watches Gon's demonstration, pole in hand.]

All right, I think I understand. So, um... like this?

[she leans back and attempts to cast out her line, but where Gon's lure landed in the middle of the pond... Chiyo's doesn't even make it into the water.

this is going to be a long day.]

[It's not so much that he was worried about Gon. The kid was as innocent as they come. And really, he knew Gon was above that. To be honest with himself...he had been so busy that he hadn't gone fishing with Gon since he'd come back months ago.]

[The chaperon bit was really just an excuse.]

[Regardless, he was glad to see Gon making friends with kids his own age, and with a gruff snort of contentment, he laid back against a tree behind the two and pulled his hat low.]

[He'd packed them each a lunch, but he was adamant about letting them work up an appetite before even setting it out.]

Um...Almost! Why don't you try again? Maybe try just a little bit slower. You don't really need to move very fast to get a good cast. A smooth motion is key.

[It's too early in the day to be discouraged! He knows she can do it!]

[she tentatively looks back at Shinjiro, just out of habit as she reels in her line to try again. she still hadn't talked much to the older boy, other than a quick "hello" earlier when they had all met up... well, now isn't the time to be bothering him. she has a task at hand!]

You make it look so easy, Gon...

[she laughs sheepishly as she attempts to cast her line out again. this time, as she's pulling back, she uses a bit too much force, and the pole goes flying straight out of her hands.]

A-ahh, wait, come back!

[His hand snaps out and he catches the pole easily enough. With one eye closed, he regards it.]

[The eye flutters from the pole to Chiyo, and with a grunt, he stands slowly to his full height.]

[He stalks over and kneels between the two, holding the fishing pole out to the younger girl.]

Tighten your grip, not your arm. Keep it fluid. Think of a wave.

[He presses the pole back into Chiyo's hand and positions her fingers into a relatively snug grip.]

S'all in the wrist, right Gon?
