HOLY COWBOYS IT'S PIRATE TIME! haruno July 1 2011, 14:10:46 UTC
You've determined what the signals are! SPACE PIRATES! We're going to try and go with complete silence and cloaking to escape their notice, while our transmitters pick up their chatter... (Ish will be NPCing this at random; feel free to improvise.) Will this work? Will buttons be pressed? WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT?

No seriously the next section won't go up until I know so =|a

[Remus' nose wrinkles at that. Not only at the unsavory thoughts, but at the fact that he was wrong in this little debate]

[So humiliating B(]

Sounds lovely.

[He turns to Sakura next]

I'm under your charge here, so whatever you decide to do, I'll follow.

Sounds fantastic.

[ They can't outrun them.

They can't ninja them because fresking pirates.

But... ]

Well, former pirate captain. It's your area of expertise, minus the fact that most of us aren't stupidly unresponsive to pain, and some of us are absolute civilians. Any ideas?

Lock the civilians up somewhere safe, first of all. They'll only get in the way. The pirates won't be expecting a fight from a tiny crew like this. We can let them board, and then ambush them.

[/chiming in here. He's been listening for a while, just not saying anything until now.]

That's assuming they do board. For all we know they could just breach the hull, kill us all with the vacuum of space, and then send in teams to salvage whatever they wanted without resistance.

Not likely. We'd be worth more to them alive. Can't make money off a dead body, now can you?

I suppose not.

So we can assume they will try to board, then. If they see us. We'll probably need to use ambush tactics, using what we can against them. Set up choke points, control where they go and how many we deal with at once. Deceive wherever possible.

Pretty basic stuff. Once they're sure we won't be a problem, we'll blindside 'em. We should have our heavy hitters on the front lines to restrict their advancement, and some long range weapons guys or whatever scattered around to provide cover fire.

Also keep in mind that we have a few things they don't: they probably don't have people that can use magic. Or at least not like some of us can. That'll factor in our favor, as well, if used right.

Making assumptions like that is dangerous, you never know what the enemy is capable of. For all I know, you could be right, but it's always a better idea to plan for the worst.

[Remus stood back this entire time, trying to keep his tongue in check, but now he finds it a good time to speak... even if he's rubbing the bridge of his nose in irritation]

So either way, we'll be preparing for battle. Wonderful.

Looks like it. We might get lucky and avoid conflict, but as he said, we need to be prepared for the worst.

"Avoid conflict"? Cute.

[Kamui grinned, cracking his knuckles. He'd gone without a fight for over a month now. He was more likely to start a fight on purpose than let the pirates off peacefully.]

[Remus' ears lower and his eyes narrow in response. After all, it doesn't take a genius to figure out just what Kamui's actions imply.]

You'd better not be pushing us towards conflict just to satiate your barbaric needs.

If it makes you feel better, I could just fight them off myself. Wouldn't be the first time.

[Remus clasps his hands together and gives the phoniest of phoney smiles to ever phoney and smile]

[The following is also dripping with so much sarcasm it may physically hurt]

Oh, goodie, problem solved! Everybody return to quarters and sleep tight. We'll have a truly heroic maniac watching over us and making sure no harm befalls our precious little ship!

[And he finishes that off with a bona fide glare]
