As long as she was peeling labels off apples, she wouldn't be tempted to wrap her hands around Zechs's neck and break his windpipe for anything inflammatory he might say. )

She had to smirk at that even as she finished peeling the label off an apple that had proven particularly difficult to clean. Laying it inside another crate with the others she had finished, she allowed herself to stare him right in the face before deciding on which fruit to toil on next.

"Just don't waste that luck."

She was, of course, referring to Noin.

"I do think we could both engage in the search for someone capable. Hopefully someone who won't ascertain what the rings are for since you do wish for this to be a private affair. Maybe an inquiry to the network?"

She still gave out advice that wasn't entirely necessary. He returned her stare before nodding. Holding back his tongue would be best.

"If we manage to find a capable person, then it would be obvious what the rings are for due to their shape, and the fact that there would be two of them." Zechs gave a light shrug. "It will be inevitable for the blacksmith to find out. If it comes to that, then it will be handled then."

She arched an eyebrow at that.

Of course.

The top student was implying her stupidity again.

As always.

She cast her gaze down, picking up another apple to work on.

No, this wasn't something to take offense at.

It was his wedding.

He had every right to dictate.

"Understood. Then how do you intend to handle things? I'd like to help. You are, however, free to decline as you please."

He watched her, and saw her demeanor change. Excellent. Une with possible moodiness.

"I'd rather be honest with a blacksmith than withhold information. It might even benefit us in the end."

Zechs turned his body to her with a small, light smile. "I do appreciate being able to brainstorm without worry, and with helpful feedback. So, thank you."

A shrug. She simply persisted in her toil. He looked like he needed a sounding board and she would rather not be alone with her thoughts right now. Seeing Epyon still haunted her on top of Noin being in such bad condition plus this upcoming wedding.

At least that last one would likely lead to some good.

"It's a selfish move on my part," she smiled slightly. "If not for you, I'd only have apples for company. They're markedly less pleasant than you. Quite the achievement for a fruit. Though admittedly, they have sheer numbers on their side."

I bet if she had a crate full os BANANAS, she'd really be happy. count_to_peace April 10 2011, 17:45:24 UTC
Attempting to diffuse a possibly volatile situation didn't go as planned, but it worked, somewhat. Inquiring about her thoughts would only lead to her thinking her privacy was invaded. Ironic that, considering their topic.

"I'm unsure if I should feel relief by that statement or not." Zechs was going for a bit of both, considering whom he was chatting to. "These numbers will only taunt you."

He crossed his arms, allowing for a thick silence to pass. Whatever was plaguing her mind made him bold enough to pick at it. If only to make a reciprocal friendly conversation. "Nervous about presiding over our nuptials?"

She still fully intended to get them a good wedding gift. In her opinion, cash never went out of style. Just had to find a way to make sure they accepted it. She finished working on the fruit in her hands and quickly swapped it out for another.

"Taunting or not, it pays."

A sigh.

"I'm not any more nervous than you should be. You could say I'm just glad to see her so happy and my anxiousness stems from not wanting to hinder that in any way."
