[she was in the middle of cleaning up the kitchen -- it wasn't something she did all that often but kitchen's tend to attract the worse of the worst of bugs and other various things when they accumulated months of crumbs in corners and underneath the fridge. she was in the middle of whacking a very large spider when there was a knock on the door.

and this knock was one that she hadn't heard in a while. but definitely familiar (who else could really make a knock so obnoxious?). so she quickly picked herself up off of the floor and brushed off the knees of her pants before making her way to the door and opening it.

[Not that he didn't like his human name, but it was weird hearing it from a complete stranger. Or what he thought was a complete stranger. Not to mention Gilbert made him think of nerds, wearing pocket protectors and having study groups.

He glanced her over for a few minutes, trying to get some sense of familiarity to make this a little less awkward. Nope. Didn't work]
