What: Yoruichi missed her birthday apparently. So Urahara decides to throw her a surprise party to make up for it. 'Surprise' being the optimum word: her birthday's in January.

Yoruichi hadn't expected this in the least. It was impossible for her not to have suspected something--he'd dressed up. And shaved. Not to mention finally producing that dress he'd bought for her with Roy a couple of months ago. He'd chosen well; it was orange, and fell in folds to just past the tops of her thighs, leaving her legs bare. She'd left her hair down today, pulling just enough back out of her face to keep it out of her way.

She'd been expecting dinner, and maybe something else, but...not all this. Obviously in shock, her eyes scanned over those gathered, before looking back up at Kisuke.

"What's going on?"

"Well..." he began slowly with a smile and a completely innocent expression. "A little bird might have told another little bird that someone apparently missed her birthday back in January."

It did all seem a little silly and out there now that he explained his reasoning to her, but she already knew that he was usually a little silly and out there with most of the things that he planned.

"So, Happy Birthday. Even if it is seven months and eighteen days too late."

Her eyes darted over the preparations once again before returning to his face, a slight frown still creasing her brow. "I didn't miss it," she murmured. She simply hadn't been in the mood to celebrate, given her recent arrival...not to mention his birthday had been the day before, and she was still trying to get her mind around him possibly being dead.

But really, none of that was important, and it was stupid to argue over it when Kisuke and her friends had gone through all this trouble. "So you haven't actually been in the lab all this time," she said, her eyes softening. She really was touched, despite how silly it was to celebrate her birthday this long after the fact.

Casting a quick glance at their friends, he clapped a hand on her bare shoulder and gave her a little shove.

"I... might just have told you a little white lie about what I was up to, yes. I hope you'll forgive me." He smiled warmly. "I'm not about to break the habit of a lifetime and miss your birthday party, so I just... moved the date. If I'd have known earlier I might have been able to do something sooner, so I hope this is alright."

[There are so many people here, she feels so out of place. Unfortunately, to get back out, she'd have to cross this whole room of people, and surely someone would notice her sneaking away. So.... she's stuck. For now, she's settling for peeking out and watching everyone carry on.]

[And she wishes she'd worn pants under this thing. It's drafty on the legs >8|]

[And over he comes to the pot-plant carrying two cups of punch.]

You know, when a girl looks as pretty as you do this evening Ran-Fan, it's a terrible shame that she feels the need to hide behind the plantlife.

(Well, he is standing next to where the drinks are and pouring himself a strong drink because..it has been a long week. He's dressed in his usual casual wear, but even that is pretty formal.

So, he pours his drink, and takes a sip with a sigh.)
