"What, worse than you?" Havoc snorted, holding his ground. Not that he didn't want to step back away from this guy, but as it was right now he didn't trust his legs to hold him up if he shifted his weight suddenly. Besides, now the little shit was an even easier target. The barrel of his gun was practically touching Envy's forehead.

"Don't get me wrong, creepy. I'm pissed off at him for being an idiot, but I'm not gonna abandon the guy. I'm more annoyed at the fact that he put himself in danger over something so idiotic, but considering what you did to Lieutenant Colonel Hughes, I can't blame him for wanting a piece of you."

Havoc's finger twitched on the trigger. If this guy moved, would he be able to get a shot off before it was too late? He wasn't as good a sniper as Hawkeye, but even with his legs fucked he was still a weapons expert.

Envy's eyes narrowed slightly, though not in anger--more amusement. The gun wasn't far from his face and he could have easily changed that. He could snap Havoc's arm in half. He could spin around and kick the gun right out of his hand. It would be all too easy to kill the cripple, if that had been his aim. But it wasn't this time. This idiot just wasn't worth killing. Not when he was so fucking pathetic left alive.

The homunculus didn't miss the finger's light movement on that trigger.

"Hughes. Do you know how I killed him?" The smirk on Envy's face was still there and it wasn't going to leave. "I shot him. It didn't take long for him to die. You're all so easy to kill. Your precious Mustang would have died if that bitch hadn't interfered unfairly. Even now I could kill you. What makes any of you maggots think you're worth anything?Envy stepped one foot closer so that the end of the gun now was no more than a foot away, maybe less. He cocked his head to the side again. He was waiting. If Havoc shot him, it wouldn't make any ( ... )

Havoc's eye twitched slightly, but his hands were as steady as ever.

"You just come to brag, is that it? Surely a guy like you has better things to do than harass a bunch of weak humans, right?"

He was so tempted to squeeze a shot off right then and there, but he knew it would be pointless. If the Colonel couldn't kill this guy there was no way some normal human could.

One of Envy's hands darted up and slender fingers wrapped around Havoc's wrist where his hand was gripping the gun. Why wasn't he shooting? He had the shot. Even if he knew that it wouldn't do any lasting harm, it would have to make him feel better, wouldn't it? When Envy was infuriated and upset and enraged beyond all reason he liked to destroy things. It made him feel better. It put him in control.

"Did you love her?" he was nearly purring now, watching Havoc from around the sides of the gun. "Would you have done anything for her? I could have made it last longer. It could have been years." Lightly his thumb teased over the back of the human's hand. "What would you have done then? If I'd waited. You'd never have known. None of you would have."

And that was the point.

None of them had ever been able to tell. Even after all of Mustang's guarantees that they would recognize Envy's disguises because they already knew of his ability, none of them had known it. Because they couldn't. Not unless they had that princeling's and his slave' ( ... )

Havoc's eyes narrowed, but he wouldn't pull his hand away. Not when he had such a clear shot. Not when the guy that had duped him and Mustang and everyone was standing right here in front of him.

"I guess I wouldn't have done anything, considering we'd have never known, huh? Did you just come out here to hit me with hypothetical questions? Don't waste my time."
