[Aha, he was expecting that sort of reaction. It wasn't fun making Hikaru all nervous, but he had planned on doing this for a while, and was finally getting around to doing it.

Of course the circumstances were a little odd, considering most everyone had nothing on but a towel. Still, something wasn't sitting well with him and he deemed it necessary to get this done now.]

Hikaru!

[Kaoru walks over from the bedroom, waving]

[ hearing his name, he rushed over and clamped his hands down on his twin's arms, examining all of him before breathing a sigh of relief. ]

[ he wasn't hurt! ... perceptibly. that was a good thing. ]

I was worried sick all day. You sounded really upset, though.

[ and you've been down lately-- we've been apart-- something's different-- rambling thoughts he can't get out. ]

What's wrong?

[To begin, Kaoru reaches his arms out, giving Hikaru a hug. He felt bad, making him worry like this.]

I'm sorry for worrying you, Hikaru.

[He takes Hikaru by the hand, sitting him on the bed.]

I just want to talk. We briefly touched on this topic once, but you said you didn't want to know. I think I'd feel better if you did.

[Of course he knew he wasn't going to stop hiding things. It was what he did sometimes. Just... he couldn't keep all of this stuff from Hikaru that he would know!]

[ the hug is returned in a slow, clumsy manner, arms around his brother's almost too-delicately. ]

[ when he's led to the bed, he only listens, keeping quiet for a long moment after the apology. ]

[ and then he gives a slow, careful nod. ]

If you think it's better this way. I trust you completely.

Are you in love with Haruhi, Hikaru? Or maybe because things are different here, you don't have the same opportunities you did back home. Maybe there's someone else here.

[He's sure he knows Hikaru well enough to be able to spot such things from miles away.]

I was in love with Haruhi... and so were you, and Tono too. But I stepped back for you. Watching you and Tono, it was like living a real life romantic comedy love triangle. It's strange to think things won't happen in the same way here, that you and Haruhi might not even get to go through those experiences. They were really something. It makes me a little sad to think that our world might not ever go back to normal, and that we won't ever have those same memories. Sure, we'll make plenty of new memories here, but as they say, home is where the heart is.

[He tries to smile to lighten things up, but only manages a slight smile.]

Isn't it depressing, being twins who don't have the same memories?
