Having the crushing flailing squealing attention of a boy-obsessed high school girl wasn't exactly Adachi's idea of fun- but it wasn't exactly not Adachi's idea of fun, either. There was something... nice, about being the subject of so much (positive) attention. It was about damn time his badge got him more than coffee duty and a slap on the head.

And she wasn't half-bad... it was nice to talk to a new arrival who didn't waste her time angsting over her lost world. (Well, at least if you didn't count her "books". He wasn't sure what the deal with her book collection was, he kinda only started half-paying attention to her. About the only way you could deal with high school girls.) And her idea of fun, surprisingly, lined up mostly with his- make things dramatic, like the movies. Different genres, sure- but he didn't mind a little romance to his mysteries.

In the end, though, it didn't really matter if his overall impression of her was good or bad. If he could buy someone's adoration and trust by just putting up with them for a few ( ... )

Renge beamed when the door was open to display one of her darling acquaintances framed in the doorway, and even offered a small wave, which was entirely ridiculous at such a close proximity. "I'm sorry I'm late," she babbled girlishly, deciding to just offer a self conscious giggle instead of explaining just how she had gotten lost. "I didn't really have a problem finding the room, but...um. There was a thing in the hall with a whole mess of - actually, it doesn't matter. I'm here now..."

She pulled on the hem of her sleeve, and blushed embarrassedly, not proud of this undignified lateness, but accepting that there was nothing she could do about it now except grin, bear it, and make it better by evil beam force. Renge gave a smile again and motioned down the hallway. "Anyway, could we resume our tour or do you need more time - I could wait." If she was going to be a late guest, at least she could be a polite, late guest.
