[Edgeworth's life since Chie left on the Loki had involved a lot of pain, chaos, and doubt. Despite his wishes, the tomato-red crystal stuck above his head made that abundantly clear to anyone with the least bit of reasoning ability. Still, Edgeworth had some important things to discuss with Chie as soon as possible, things that couldn't wait for a chance encounter later. As such, there was a burgundy-suited man mixed in with the crowd, searching for any sign of the tomboy detective.]

[Chie heaved a sigh of relief, stepping back down on Thor ground once again. The trip had involved a lot of pain, and way more heartache than she had expected to deal with.]

[But anyway, Chie looked around in the crowd for anybody she might recognize, which is when she spotted a familiar face among all the strangers. Well, there's a sight for sore eyes! Chie waved, trying to work through the crowd to get over.]

Mr. Edgeworth! Hey!

[A faint and pained near-smile, a nod, and the crystal taking on a more carrot-like hue served as acknowledgment of Chie's cry. As Edgeworth held his personal space in higher regard than most, the prosecutor's efforts to likewise close the distance are on the slow and deliberate side.

Once the two are finally at a more proper speaking distance:]

Did you fare well during the mission?

[Oh uh. She hadn't noticed the crystal until it changed color.]

Ugh, I guess so. I did better than most. What's with that thing over your head?

It seems as though your last six weeks have been no better than mine. The "thing" above my head is but one of the concerns -- a crystalline piece of technology that the residents of the planet which we are currently orbiting force upon all who visit the surface. I have found that it refuses to be removed.

Ouch. I think I'll avoid this planet, then. So what's up? You sound like you've been put through a meat grinder or something.

[Metaphorically speaking.]

...I... believe that I am ready to accept your offer of a demonstration.

[As much as Edgeworth is trying to feign nonchalance, the attempt isn't reaching his eyes, to say nothing of the crystal betraying him by returning to tomato red.]

Demonstration?

[Give her a moment, it's been a month and a half, at least.]

Ohh, you mean with a Persona? Sure, I can do that. It's better not to do it in the middle of a large crowd, though. Somebody might get hurt.

[Edgeworth nods uneasily, then raises his guide and begins tapping at it.]

Very well, then. There is another matter that you should most likely attend to first, however. It concerns a friend of yours whom I met during your absence.

Huh? What happened?

[Chie's mood takes a sudden turn for the very worried.]

Did somebody else get wormholed? Or is it something else?

I... don't entirely understand all aspects of the situation myself. However, Shirogane was overworking himself, on the theory that he must make up for your absences. Furthermore, as the conversation continued, he... spoke of a need to do something related to... your sorts of abilities alone. I took him at his word for lack of a reasonable alternative, but the next day, this appeared on the network.

...! Wha-- when did this happen?!

[Cue Chie's freaking out. This is quite obviously very much not okay.]

Is Naoto-kun alright?!

(So it is as much cause for concern as I believed.)

Just under a week ago. I don't know whether he has recovered.

Damn! Ohhhh she is in so much trouble... As soon as she recovers, anyway.

[Chie's starting to fret like a worried mother. But with friends like Naoto, if you don't keep an eye on them, they do things like this!]

I presume that the situation is best -- [Wait. Blinkblink.] "She"?

Huh? Yeah, she.

[Uhh.]

Uh. Naoto-kun's a girl, Mr. Edgeworth.
