Cathartic fangirl weekend + navel gazing

Jul 29, 2013 09:38

First things first, I had my weekend-long party with some of my real life friends (who just happen to be people I've met on LJ) and no one pointed out the mud stains from dirty paws on carpet by the back door, so I consider that a win. :D ( Read more... )

I have heard nothing but praise for the man. I come from the vast lands North of Dallas and never heard of him until this weekend. It is always great to hear a story about genuinely great people doing great things. Ain't gonna lie. I had some tears.

Kidd's Kids is such a great charity - if a person can listen to those kids talk about how amazing it is to have a full day where they forget they're dying/have cancer, and that person isn't choked up? They might be a robot.

I lol'd at bees' knees. I DID. (I like to think I'm the patella to many, not just the one. I'm no Spock.)

OMG, when I realized I'd won a DATE I was mortified. He was such a nice guy. (Knotting is a no? Huh. And here I've recently realized that I'm all: HELL YEAH. I'm as shocked as you.)

You can only go wrong with a California Cab if it's shitty and made of SuperPurple with chunks of oak thrown in. I don't care for a sweet/vanilla finish, but if you do, Clayhouse is awesome and around $10. (Hit my wine list tag for a bunch of recs?) Some merlots are just as fine as their cab sav counterparts and half the price. Just open them up a half hour before you're going to drink it to let it smooth out.

I never met the guy- but he was a part of my life since the 80s. I think I was living in the Permian Basin the first time I started hearing about him & being told, "You've got to catch this guy on the air!" so I did, every chance I got. I remember the outrage when he got canned, & I remember the Hotel California Protest ( ... )
