I need a weekend to recover from the weekend.

Not like that, I had a sick child and not enough sleep. Well, and I stayed up until something ridiculous like 3am (oh my god I need sleeeeeeeep) drinking bottle after bottle of wine with my friend talking about everything under the sun. She's my only fannish friend in town (aside from my sister, but we only have Buffy in common, fandom wise) and ( Read more... )

Well I WAS being good with keeping up with my exercise routine. I started walking on the treadmill but I hit a major slump. I need to lose 20 pounds because of the fat in my liver.

Got any tips?

For fat? Hard core wieghts/resistance workouts are def. the way to go. Anaeroic workouts (go to YouTube and google HITT training) are major fat burners, but they're not for the faint of heart. But damn, will they kick your metabolism into high gear.

YOU CAN DO IT!! Walking is still one of the BEST exercises around, easy on the joints, good for the heart and lungs, and you get to look around while doing it. :D

Do you do pull ups at home? Do you have a "system" or a doorway doodad? I want to start doing these. Any advice would be lovely.

I do them at home, yep! I have a pull up bar (it has stations built into it, for wide grip, close grip, parallel grip, etc) in the doorway between my bedroom and bathroom. I'm back on my "every time I walk past it I have to do at least one" method, too.

We also have the resistance bands for when my husband travels, it just hooks over the door knob, or what have you. Those are nice, too, but I feel more bad ass using the pull up bar. Go to Beachbody.com to check out their particular one, but any sports good store will have one at a good price (like, 20-50 bucks)

Excellent! Are you using the P90X chin up bar then?

I am! And I'll say that the Recovery Drink and multi-vitamins they sell are totally worth the price, if you start getting hard hitting with exercise.

I don't know if I told you that you inspired me to start weight training with your updates last year. I've been working with a personal trainer in my apartment building and it's been a real revelation what my body can do. I'm up to using 12 lb weights for things that back in February I did without any weights at all because I didn't have the strength.

Keep us updated on your new PX90 adventures. *G*

I did? Oh, that's so wonderful for you!! Doesn't it feel amazing to be able to lift things and see muscles working? Our bodies are pretty spectacular, I have to agree.

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!

I remember a few weeks in working with my trainer touching my arm and feeling the muscle underneath and getting so excited! I'm doing double sets and asking for higher weights. The only thing I still HATE!!!11!! is squats. Those are just nasty. *G*

But yes, you were the inspiration.

I know what you mean about missing having a fannish friend around. My one TV obsessed friend in town packed up and moved to Portland. Telephone conversation is just not the same and drinking beers and nattering on about the WTFery of "True Blood" or the heinous outfits and bitchery on "Project Runway." She can't see me flailing and I can't roll my eyes at her terrible taste over the phone.

Yay exercise, especially now the weather is so gorgeous. The mister and I went on a hike yesterday and for a bonus (above and beyond feeling all happy to be out in the sun and not broiling) we got to watch an armadillo rooting about in a river bed. I hadn't seen a live one in much too long and I am still smiling at how ridiculous and ridiculously cute it was.

NOOOOO!!! Ugh, it just isn't the same on the phone, not at all. You need face to face squee/cry/moan time.

Oh, it's so gorgeous. I'm sprinkling some gardening in between working, and it's SO HAPPY MAKING. Except for how my arms are trembly from working out, lol.

ARMADILLOS!! A friend's dad wrote a hilarious song, "The only armadillos that you ever see in Texas/are the dead ones lying in the road, kudunk kudunk kudunk." LOL. Poor funny little things.

That song is so sadly true, which is why we were delighted to see the snorfling thing about ten feet away from us paying us no mind at all. We watched it for a really, really long while, huge grins on both our faces.

I was never able to do them until I started P90X the first time. After the 90 days I could do ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY. That shit works, man.

Also, I am RIDICULOUSLY EXCITED for American Horror Story and your recaps. RIDICULOUSLY.
