So after logging in i saw and then read an msn article about a bear that has starred in several advertisements and movies (the most recent being "Semi-pro") that during the filming of its latest ad had suddenly attacked its trainer for no apparent reason at all. Humans are so silly. The unfortunate thing about all of this is, they can't put these animals back into the wild because they've been domesticated in a huge way. Which is worse, putting them down, or having them try to fend for themselves in the wild and unsucceeding? I am certainly not a fan of killing a wild animal or anything at all...I feel bad when I step on ants or have to kill other insects around.

Well many trained animals were born in capativity and some are incapable for one reason or another from being able to function in the wild from birth. I am not one who is against the use or training of wild animals (in a humane way of course). In fact by a species being used for entertainment it can promote public education and awareness for their wild counterparts' preservation.

I specifically didn't propose placing this bear or any other trained animal back into the wild for the exact reason you stated- they can't function and that would be as good as a death sentence. However placing such an animal in a zoo were direct human contact is minimal yet it is taken care of as it has come to be acustomed to would be an excellent alternative. Not to mention animals of this nature would be a lot less likely to become sick or die from stress typically caused by the enclosure of formerly wild animals. Thats my humane solution- one that doesn't involve killing anything.
