Tourney recap

Mar 28, 2010 10:57

So the wrestling tournament is over (it was yesterday). I stopped posting run-up bits because they devolved into 'x' is what I ate today, 'y'is my workout plan, 'z' is how my weight is. BOOORING. (even to me). So I made my weight goal (weight class was 205, I was 203.5 at weigh-in), and I even felt good - the benefits of a relatively slow ( Read more... )

hon... did you see a guy named Dan compete who went through to the finals? just curious, because i've been IMing with someone who lives out near Rochester who was also at a wrestling tournament yesterday...

yay making weight goal and yay competing! (in my mind it doesn't matter what happened so much as all the amazing effort you put into getting back into shape to do it - gah)

if you were closer, i'd say we should run together :) i HAVE to get my butt back on track with the cardio. black belt written test is in two weeks...

there were a couple Dan's there and I think 2 made it into the finals...
and yeah, it's a 'win' just to meet my goals!
I hate running. I do it, and I know I need to do it. I use treadmills when the weather sucks and I run outside once it gets warm. But I still hate running!

good luck on the black belt test!

the one i'm chatting with just told me he won.

Well, then it's not the 'Dan' I wrestled ...he was gracious in victory, but left in a snit when he lost. (some peoples' kids, I tell ya!)

You might also want to see if you can get in with a HS as an assistant coach or helper. I know that all of Noah's coaches still wrestle and use that as part of their strategy.

In Monroe County we also have the APEX program for off school season wrestling for the boys. Noah goes 3 times a week and learns Greco, Freestyle and one other variations. All the coaches volunteer and again, use it to keep in shape/up on their game.
You might want to check it out and see if you can help. :)

Yeah, I looked into APEX (2 of the kids at the dojo train there - both wrestle for East Roch) - their '13 and up' policy means 'up to the end of your college career', unfortunately for me (although I dodn't ask about coaching; hmmm...). But Kate and I are in agreement that I need to look into volunteering at Dansville HS for next season. Tell Noah 'good luck'!

Thank you for the compliment! I believe that you, more than anybody else I know, win most days just by getting up to face the world, so having you say that to me means a lot! Be well, and give Delilah skritches and pets for me!
