Is there something about high office that melts people's brains? There has to be something to account for the dizzying heights of stupidity that authorities reach all the damn time, even the people who seemed to have half a brain before they became officials.

misanthropy get, are these people actually thinking?

Supposedly there have been one or two who have kept their wits in an office of power. Rare, but then one never knows what humanity will produce.

Most, however, are simply, often tragically, human in some of the worst ways.

Agreeing with the rest - there's gotta be something about power that kills the ability to think like a rational human.

But that's why they've got people to rule over, right? So we can set 'em straight when they're stomping on our rights!

I think there's something in the pipes of every capitol building on Reial. It's the only satisfactory explanation I can come up with.
