4.2. "Whatever you are, be a good one."
Abraham Lincoln
It wasn’t unusual for the senior members of the X-Men to go off on their own missions, and leave the younger ones to keep things ticking over at the mansion. When Emma caught wind of Logan and Scott indulging in their own little tactical getaway, she was hardly going to let the two of them leave without her. She was already dressed in her white leather ensemble and waiting by the Blackbird before either of them had a chance to argue with her.
It wasn’t as if the two of them really needed the time alone, was it? Logan just gave her a sneer of disapproval and Cyclops just looked like he was having second thoughts about the mission before he just sighed and boarded the jet with a shake of his head.
She could hardly be accused for not trying hard enough to spend what little time she could with Scott. Maybe they did have a date lined up, but that didn’t mean Emma wasn’t going to try and show him her less than bitchy side. She even managed to keep her mouth shut the entire trip to Miami much to the Wolverine’s pleasure.
As they got closer, Emma closed her eyes and focused on seeking out the mutant signature they were after. The poor child was already surrounded by others - Friends of Humanity no doubt. This time it was Emma’s lips that curled back into a sneer and she was already poised at the edge of the ramp as it lowered to let the three X-Men out.
The two men flanked her, but Wolverine soon took the lead as the FoH started on the attack. Cyclops had gone for the mutant child while Emma tried to help Wolverine keep the racist bastards at bay. She really did get so much joy out of seeing the pathetic self-appointed soldiers get squashed.
She was so focused on the fight that she barely registered the fact that the FoH seemed to have gotten an upgrade in their artillery. It was only when she heard Scott start to use his mutant ability that she turned around and saw the rocket launchers. “Stupid idiots,” she murmured before she ran to Scott’s aid.
It was just as she reached him that the first volley was let loose and Emma quickly turned into her diamond form to stop herself from getting harmed. It also stopped the rocket from getting to Scott, and she let out a quiet sigh of relief. She changed back, and let loose with a telepathic assault to stop their enemy from trying the same trick again, Cyclops backing her up with Wolverine still working to his own battle plan.
It was only when things seemed to go quiet and the three X-Men were left standing that Emma noticed a tiny form clinging to her leg. Large, watery, brown eyes gazed up at her and she crinkled her nose in distaste. “Can someone remove this child from me?”
Scott just smirked at her, and she could imagine the mischievous glint in his eyes from behind the visor. “I think it suits you. Definitely this year’s must have accessory. You wouldn’t want to buck the latest fashion trends would you, Emma?” She sucked in a breath to fire a retort at him, but Scott held his gloved hand up. “You should know right now I’m really not into spanking, but play your cards right on that date and I might consider using cuffs. Survive the trip back to the mansion with that kid attached to you and I’ll even buy you dessert.”
Emma’s mouth was clamped shut and she looked back down at the child. “If there are bodily fluids of any sort left on these leather pants I will soon teach you the meaning of child labour, are we clear?”
