Oh, lovely! Thank you for this. It's so true, libraries are *different* inside, and make the people who go in different too (or at least they used to, before they started being filled with DVDs instead of books, and computers instead of reading tables...). And books don't change. I suspect that's what *really* appealed to Remus, particularly after the bite.

Oh, good! I'm so glad you liked it. I spent ages and ages considering what kind of man Remus was and what kind of relationship he would have to the library. I really didn't know where this was going until I was ankle deep in it.

I thought Remus might have had some trouble relating to other people, and people-watching in the library is a unique experience; there is an almost reverent hush about the place. I suspect you may be right about Remus and the reliable untransforming permanence of books. That might be the real reason he never felt betrayed by them.

Thanks for this prompt; I really enjoyed thinking out and writing this. Also, thank-you for commenting. Genfic can get so lonely after it is released onto the internet. LOl

I know. Yikes. When I was proofreading, after having let it sit a few days, that last line really kicked me in the gut. I'm glad you found it as evocative as intended. Thank-you for reading and commenting. <3

I can feel my eyes starting to mist a bit after the last paragraph and, even more, the last line. I think that you. too, have spent lots of time in libraries!

Thanks for reading this and commenting. Libraries can indeed be a powerful place; I can't attest to having as strong a connection to them as Remus does here, but I do have an appreciation for them. I am glad that shines through.

Ah, that is lovely. A really excellent study of Remus. And he's right, libraries are special places, places you can trust.
