[Frank takes notice of Meryl watching him as she rewinds his dream. The woman seems fixated on the screen but the young soldier knows well enough that she's not actually looking at him. He sits in silence long enough for her to watch through the events again before he finally speaks.]

I have been without orders for so long... I find myself longing for those days.

[Even though Frank himself never truly understood it, he recalled and recognized the strange influence Gene's voice had over not only himself but all soldiers in the faction. The immediate desire to follow and obey would be instilled in any man within earshot, no matter what the command may have been.]

I was still a threat... That man was not always able to speak in my presence. They needed a method of controlling me.

[Roxas is a bit confused to say the least but that tends to happen with dreams that revolve around someones past. Still, he didn't know quite what to think of when he was chained like that. And then dispatched on a mission that didn't sound like it would be friendly.]

... You okay?

[Frank takes a moment to rub his eyes a bit, collecting himself after the dream. Though it didn't elicit a particularly negative feeling inside of him, there remained a lingering feeling of uselessness in him. He's gone so long without any true guidance or orders, he feels a deep longing for that sense of structure.]

...It was only a dream. I will be fine, Roxas.

... Did you have to do that often?

[Not really buying that he's fine but he's curious, but also a bit sad for him. He didn't really know Frank outside of he lived in the Church and that they sometimes agreed on certain things. He used to have missions but they were probably never like his]

[The question causes Frank to fall silent for a moment, trying to think of the most logical means of answering. It's difficult for him to know for certain what's real and what's merely things his mind has conjured up but in the depths of his mind, he knows that this kind of thing was more or less routine.]

Yes... I do believe this was standard practice.

[By the time Snake calls him, Frank is seated at the edge of his bed with his machete drawn and placed across his lap. With an off-white rag, he carefully buffs and cleans the blade, looking up only when the message comes through.]

Sn-[He catches himself quickly, the habit still ingrained in him.] David.

My rest was as it usually is. There is nothing of note beyond my dream. [His attention returns to cleaning his machete, keeping the Dreamberry propped up against his bedside table as he works.]

And yours? [He doesn't miss a beat when it comes to exchanging pleasantries now, having grown accustomed to hearing and responding to them on a daily basis in the church itself.]

*Danny's expression was dark, and had been since the dream's beginning. It's strangely depressing to see his friend in a military camp, surrounded by the only thing he's ever known, but it's even worse to see him in chains.*

*Already trying to think of how to talk to Frank again about this whole crappy-job thing he has going on, Danny almost misses It. When he sees It it completely derails all previous train of thoughts, and he rewinds the video to watch again.*

*Not bothering to watch the rest--the video's almost over anyway--Danny turns it off and immediately starts the call.*

Frank! That guy's overshadowed!

[Danny's alerted cry doesn't go unnoticed - there's a certain quality in his comrade's voice that carries through the device and strikes something within Frank. It gives him a definite urge to focus on the other youth and listen to what he has to say.]

Overshadowed? Explain.

Explain? *How could he possibly not know what--oh, right. It's Frank. With that in mind, everything else comes out in rapid-fire.*

Possessed. A ghost was controlling him from the inside--you can tell by the eyes.

[It takes a moment for Frank to remember that Danny comes from a slightly different world than his own - where Frank was accustomed to psychics, Danny has a whole other level of supernatural to contend with. Perhaps the concept of Gene being possessed would make for the easiest explanation as to the man's influence, Frank knew better.

...But perhaps it would be best he inquire further. Danny was a soldier of sorts as well, one who battled against specters and enigmas. Perhaps he's feeling restless as well, needing some means of conveying his skill and focus.]

Tell me more, Danny. What does one do in the face of possession?

[She isn't initially sure that she should reply to this at all. Sure, he lives in the Church, but that doesn't make them inherently close. So, instead, she just lingers for a moment, slightly uncomfortable at the feelings that this dream in particular evokes.]

Are you alright?

[Although the two are not particularly close, Sam is a friend of Danny's. Anyone that Danny trusts, Frank is willing to place his faith in as well. He trusts in Sam not to kill him in his sleep and she would appear to feel the same way - that's good enough for him.]

It was merely a dream...
