Today is the Mid-Autumn Festival/Mooncake Festival/Lantern Festival. I have mooncakes for you all, if you want.

Today's scheduled activities include:
Carrying brightly lit lanterns, lighting lanterns on towers, floating sky lanterns
Burning incense in reverence to deities
Planting Mid-Autumn trees
Fire Dragon Dances

Mooncakes are a type of Chinese pastry. They have a chewy crust and a thick filling. The filling varies depending on the place the mooncake was made but, typically, they have a lotus seed paste with a egg yolk centre to represent the moon. Most of them all have this sort of yolk moon in the centre of them. Some people make them with red bean paste. Singapore is weird and likes stuffing durian paste in them. Because they often feature intricate designs on them, only specialist bakeries tend to make them. The process is labour-intensive so mooncakes (often sold in boxes of four or six) are quite expensive considering their size ( ... )
