Completion: Complete

Kingsley hated London. He grew up there. Being back after spending the better part of a year in Stoats had him remembering what it was like living here as a boy. Desperately poor, fighting to hang on to his milk money long enough to make it to the primary school, then fighting again to hang on to it long enough to make it to the lunch room. It also reminded him of being pushed off by the Auror Department on to the muggle Prime Minister and spending most of the war years exiled there. Secretary, body guard, Auror, Order Member, purveyor of office supplies, poor boy, fatherless child...

Kingsley hated when his life could be described by checking boxes with neat little identification labels. It made him seem predictable.

He hated predictability.

Kingsley had a thing for chaos. That's one the reasons life as a Auror appealed to him. That was one of the reasons life as a farmer wasn't so bad either... big, black spiders aside. He liked the unpredictability of his life. He didn't mind not knowing when he went to bed which hat he was going to have to put on in the morning. He knew it would all balance out. Everything eventually sought balance.

Everything in the world wanted to be at equilibrium.

That was why he knew Ernie Macmillan would eventually be found. Ernie was unbalanced without Eleanor and she wasn't at equilibrium without him. Kingsley might not be the guy to find him, but he'd keep trying until either he found him, someone else did, or Ernie came to his senses. Knowing Ernie's stubborn and slightly chaotic streak, Kingsley didn't hold much hope for last one, but finding him wasn't looking impossible. Just a half hour ago, a bloke recognized the photo of Ernie and mentioned having seen him around a flop house, which was where Kingsley was headed now. After that, he'd follow the next lead, then the next, until either he found Ernie or someone else did.

Because Kingsley seriously doubted Ernie would come to his senses first.
