Caradoc had been thinking about asking some people over to play poker for a while now, but the summer had been extremely busy with preparing for school, helping with the various festivals, and having his grandkids to stay. But this weekend looked great. He was free, and based on the conversations he had with several people at the Hammerside Dance the previous Saturday, enough other people were interested that they could have a pretty exciting game. He might even have to use two tables.
The new Ancient Runes Professor, Michael was interested and so was Remus. He'd been surprised by how many women were interested in playing. Rita, he naturally assumed would wish to play, but Alicia and Katie had been a surprise. Both had expressed interest when he mentioned the idea to Oliver and Cedric, and he had invited them too. Caradoc had known that Minerva played, but she had said she might not come because people would just fuss at her. Minerva did tell him something he didn't know. She said that Arabella played and he'd be wise not to underestimate her. He'd make sure he invited her, and that he took Minerva's advice to heart.
Hestia and Sybil had both declined, although the Divination Professor's prediction was rather... odd. Caradoc wasn't quite sure what to make of her yet. His maternal grandfather had some talent in Divination, so he was used to the oddities of seers. Yet somehow her prediction didn't have that feeling of truth his Grandpapa's always did. Caradoc shook it off, everyone had their own style, he supposed. He wasn't exactly the same as Flitwick after all.
Caradoc hadn't had a chance to talk to Seti, Willa, or Profess... Pomona -- it was taking him longer to get used to calling his former Head of House by her first name than it did the Headmistress -- yet. And Zach's classes were over before lunch today, so he'd hadn't spoken with him either. Caradoc decided that the easiest thing to do was to tack a note up on the board in the staff room to find him some time this week if anyone was interested. He'd send Poindexter out with invitations to Wayne, Arabella and some other folks before dinner.
Saturday was going to be fun.
