Andy watched the little boy leave clutching a lolly she'd just given him with a smile. "How was Durwent?" she asked leaning back in her chair and crossing her legs as Kenneth poured himself a cup of tea from the kettle she kept on a side bar across from her desk. "Tried to use his grandfather's broom again huh?"

"He will live," Kenneth replied dryly as he added some sugar and milk to his tea. "If persistence were the sole qualification for advancement in life, he would be a guaranteed success."

Kenneth paused to take an experimental sip, then added a bit more milk.

"Unfortunately for him, if he keeps up his broom activities, he will likely end up a giant splatter mark on someone's roof," he observed as he took a seat opposite Tonks' desk. "Though perhaps the limitations of mortality might just have begun dawning on him. The bruising will be around for a bit."

"Only because you didn't give him the potion that would make it go away," she replied wryly. "You wanted him to learn a lesson, which, frankly in this case, I agree with. You're right, he is going to wind up as some splatter mark on someone's roof if he isn't careful."

Hmmm... she'd all but brow beat and twisted the arm on Nymphadora, but she highly doubted that would work well if at all on Kenneth. She needed either to go subtly or with brute force. He seemed to be in a good mood with the busy morning he'd had, but that generally meant nothing. "Have you ever wanted kids?"

"Medicine doesn't always taste very good, especially if it's good for you," Kenneth told her with a smile. "Or so my father always maintained. Usually after he made me drink a rather vile antibiotic. Neither muggle nor wizarding medicine has much sympathy for one's taste buds."

He was mid-sip when she asked the question about children, an inquiry that for once took him utterly by surprise. He nearly spilled his tea.

"I...I can't say that I've given the matter much thought," he blurted out. Even when he'd been with Haylie, if he were honest, it had been a passionate relationship based on professional interest and respect, not consideration for the future. Their break-up had clearly demonstrated the problems associated therein.

An auror? That ostensibly indicated a certain degree of intelligence, though the war had put something of a dent in that belief. And if she were good enouugh to work for the head of the Aurors, she was likely competent.

Kenneth wasn't sure how an auror moved on to become a stationer, but it was a respectable enough undertaking. And fodder for conversation should that become otherwise tedious.

"I suppose a dinner wouldn't be too nightmarish a prospect," he said with a frown, wondering how he'd been maneuvered into his current position. "Assuming that's still considered acceptable dating behavior for those of us who aren't well versed in fun."

If he sounded more than a little sarcastic, well, he wasn't above being a trifle petty after being cajoled into a date.

"Brilliant!" Andromeda chirruped, hearing the sarcasm but choosing to ignore it. "I'd suggest the Five Alarm or Socks because while they aren't quite as intimate as Roma's, it's more comfortable and laid back and more your and Nymphadora's speed. Oh and she may bite your head off if you call her Nymphadora so call her Tonks. Would you like her to owl you or would you want to owl her?"

Kenneth could feel the beginnings of a headache winding its way through his brain.

"I'm certain I can select a suitable place to eat," he told her with rather bad grace, before absorbing yet another piece of information about his intended dinner companion. In his mind, Kenneth quickly categorized his mediwitch and her daughter as Tonks and Tonks II. "And I will owl her."

If he was trapped into doing something, he would do it correctly.

"Brilliant! I'll let her know to be expecting your owl," Andromeda said beaming over at her boss. "Just... try to keep the hexing to a minimum. The both of you."
