It was probably a good thing that Roger had suggested eating dinner out tonight. With work at the new house and just the regular day's work, Hermione wasn't in any mood to bother with cooking. Looking back on the week, they'd been slacking when it came to meals. Roger was just as excited, and nervous, as she was about moving in together, and they'd both been putting in long hours after leaving their jobs to get the floors finished and things shaped up enough for them to move in.
Since she was meeting him at Socks, she left after work and walked to the pub. She was tempted to stop off and see if he was in the shop, but he'd mentioned probably spending the day on site somewhere, and she had no idea where. So, she went on past, wondering idly if he'd ever get around to naming the shop.
It had been a productive day at work, and she was becoming used to the sore muscles that were caused from sanding, staining, and cleaning far too many wood floors. It was worth it, though, because the floors looked beautiful. Last night, she'd even had a little free time while Roger had a pint with Zach to look at the small bedroom and make a few more lists. It was probably odd to most people, but she'd been extremely pleased the last week to make so many lists and color coded charts.
In fact, after working on a study schedule for Gabrielle, she was tempted to ask Blaise if he'd need help setting schedules for the History of Magic class. If he said yes, well, he'd not have to know that her idea of a schedule was what some might call in-depth. To say the least. Would it be taking advantage of their friendship and his lack of knowledge about her former study habits if she casually suggested it and then hit him with complicated color-coded charts?
She considered it as she walked, finally deciding that Blaise was certainly observant enough to have a reasonable idea that she'd take such things seriously, so it would not, in fact, be taking advantage. Which meant she'd have to speak to him whenever she saw him next and bring it up. It would just be helpful of her, being a good friend and indulging a passion all at the same time.
Roger hadn't yet said anything about her rough outlines regarding the renovations and the tentative schedule she'd worked out. She'd seen him arch his brow when he noticed the various colors and thorough lists, but she was pleased that he seemed willing to tolerate them. She'd not have a final copy for awhile, as she wanted to get an idea of how long such things would take before estimating a timeline. Just the idea of formalizing an 'Our House Renovations' chart had her tempted to bounce a little. She didn't, however, because her foot was somewhat achy after being twisted into the position required to work on the floors.
When she entered Socks, she gripped her wand tightly and scanned the place instinctively. When she determined that it seemed safe, she stepped further inside. Roger wasn't there yet, so she made her way to the table in the back that she always tried to sit at whenever dining at the pub. She sat down, making sure she could see the door clearly, and relaxed her grip on her wand. Not one to waste time simply sitting and doing nothing, she opened her notepad and analyzed her list of renovation information while waiting for Roger.
