As soon as he saw the sign, Stan pulled the parchment off of the board and stuffed it in his pocket. He wasn't sure just where this new Ministry of Magic was, or how to get there, but that job was rightfully his, and he was going to get it back.

And if for some reason he didn't, well then they just didn't know what they were in for.

Stan continued along his way down Copper and saw a girl posting up another sign just like the one he had in his pocket.

"Oi, you puttin' up these bills then are ya?" he called out to her, walking at a brisk pace to catch up. "I'm ready ta take me ol' job back then, aren't I? You the one I'm s'posed to be talkin' to?"

As Marietta was posting one of her signs on Copper Street, a young man with large front teeth and spotty skin approached her, muttering about wanting to take his old job back.

His old job back?

"Yes, I'm putting up these bills, as you call them," she answered, eyebrow raised. "If you'd like to apply for one of these positions, you should go to the Ministry offices and submit one of our standard employment application forms. I'd give you a form myself but I didn't expect to run into anyone who wanted to apply on the spot. I'm Marietta Edgecombe. I'll be interviewing applicants for bus driver and conductor. So you have some relevant experience, Mister...?"

Stan wiped his hand on his trousers and held it out to the young witch. "Stan Shunpike. Former Conductor for the Knight Bus, an' most experienced, ta boot. Why Oi bet ye can't find anovver what's got me cheerful personality, knows all da rules 'o' the bus, an's good 'nuff with numbers ta do the job ( ... )

"Stan Shunpike," she repeated. This must be the fellow Katie Bell mentioned when she had lunch with Marietta after the Quidditch race. "Ohhh...I remember you now." He had extended his hand, which she took and shook gingerly. Now was not the time to bring up the rumour of his being in Azkaban. He had experience, and that was what mattered at the moment. Besides, Marietta had thought the Minister had been overly cautious, perhaps a bit too vigilant; it seemed all sorts of people were thrown in Azkaban during the war for flimsy reasons. "The current Ministry is much smaller than the old one. It's here in Stoatshead Hill, on the other side of the river. Just follow this street up to F Street, turn right, then walk up F to Epsilon. Turn left and follow Epsilon over the bridge. You'll find the Five Alarm Pub right at Epsilon and River Road. The Ministry's quarters are past the pub on River Road ( ... )
