"Was I not familiar with you?" She hesitated and then realized what he'd meant, her cheeks blushing scarlet as she stammered awkwardly. "I didn't mean it that way... I just meant..." Ginny's voice trailed off.

Rodolphus did keep his amusement to himself when he saw her stammer and understand what he had said.
"I know what you meant, Ginny. I should have been a bit more clear."

She clenched her jaw, she really did, but the corners of her mouth wavered at the laugh in his voice. "Oi. You're laughing at me. That's not nice. I'm not a child, you know. I could. Be, um, familiar. Not that it'd be with you." She stopped again, blushing even harder than she had been.
Reply
"Maybe I'm wrong. I know how I feel, but I can't read your mind."
Rodolphus barely stifled a small smile.
"I know you're not a child, Ginny."
He chuckled softly.
"And I doubt you would touch me with a ten foot pole."

She blinked, looking up at him, her face clearly showing her surprise. "Bloody hell, you are laughing at me. Well, you can just stop that. Oi! I meant... I didn't mean... Oh, bloody hell, I just said that because I didn't want you to think I was making some sort of challenge. Don't be absurd, now."

He did smile a bit at her next words though.
"I am older than you and have all the right in the world to be absurd, damn it. After all, I've never done it in the past."

Gesturing to the apple beside his leg, she said. "Go on, I didn't poison it." Brushing her hair back from her eyes, Ginny said quietly. "I shouldn't be here. Certainly shouldn't be talking to you and sod on, bloody well know better than to tell you how much I've missed you."
Reply
"Why does that not surprise me? Rabastan would be stubborn about such a thing."
He raised an eyebrow.
"I am quite a bit older than twenty-four."
Rodolphus looked down at the apple and picked it up. He hadn't eaten in a while and took a large bite of it.
"I missed you too, Ginny." He said once he swallowed. "So has my muse. She's had me sketching you for days."
Reply
"Not that much older." She insisted stubbornly, taking a bite of her sandwich. "Fifteen? Twenty years tops. That's not a lot."
For the first time since she'd sat down, Ginny leaned back against the bench and nodding to the parchment he'd been trying to keep from her sight. "Is that one of them?"
Reply
"Rabastan does what he wants. And yes, I imagine that he does. He's quite skilled, you know."
He shrugged.
"I suppose not, but a lot can happen in fifteen to twenty years."
Rodolphus looked down at the sketch and nodded.
"Yes. I suppose you can see it if you like."
