Summary: The first meeting of the Bookworm Book Club
Completion: Incomplete

The first meeting of the Bookworm Book Club was scheduled to begin soon. Despite disliking crowds, Hermione felt calm about this gathering. It was going to be taking place in the Loft, which was her territory, so to speak, and no one with negative intentions would make it past the front door, which helped a lot in terms of anxiety. She was slightly nervous about the possibility of no one showing up, but she hoped a few people in town might like the idea of a literary gathering to discuss books of various genres.

She had decided to have this club be a swap, so that people could talk amongst themselves and interact in a more informal setting. Besides, she could just imagine how difficult it would be to agree on one specific book for everyone to read. While it would push some people out of their comfort zones, certainly, she thought that a book club should be enjoyable and not a forced setting. She certainly wouldn’t choose to attend a club where a silly romance novel, for instance, was ‘required reading’. Hopefully, this more informal swap idea would be best. The members would also have to decide if the meetings should be bi-weekly or monthly, as she was open to either choice.

Roger came in with a tray of biscuits and crackers that she’d arranged earlier, and she stole a kiss before she fussed with the presentation of the snack table. She’d chosen things that wouldn’t make a mess or cause sticky fingerprints on the books, though she was somewhat concerned about the possibilities of spillage from the fruit punch and bottles of water. Well, if an accident happened, at least they had magic to clean up.

After determining that everything was ready, she placed a copy of Magic in the Nineteenth Century on the table for swapping. She looked at it a moment and realized that most people would probably not have any interest in such a text, so she summoned a copy of Murder on the Orient Express from downstairs, so she’d have a choice in what text to offer, depending on who, if anyone, showed up. Now, it was just time to wait for the meeting to begin.
