Rita couldn't get the image of Gilderoy Lockhart and a dozen witches drunkenly trying to pin the penis on the naked wizard. She just couldn't. She'd had an idea. Woken up with it, in fact, and she didn't want to think about what that said about her sanity.

This 'marriage' that was happening between Gilderoy and Avery, well. Gilderoy was almost certainly the bride, wasn't he? And brides had to have hen parties. And who was more appropriate to throw one for him than his sister?

Merlin, that was still an odd thought. But odd or not, throwing a hen party for Gilderoy was quite possibly the most hilarious idea she'd ever had. She had to write to him.

Gilderoy, darling,

Do take this as my official RSVP for your wedding. I will definitely be there. Also, I just had the most marvellous thought. If you are to be married, you must have a 'hen' party. I use the female term because, forgive me, but you are certainly the more glamorous one of the pair, and you seem to have a great many female friends in town.

I do hope you will allow me to throw one for you. A few days before the wedding, perhaps? You certainly won't end up naked and chained to a Quidditch post on my account, but a few days to recover might be called for, nonetheless.

If you like the idea, would you let me know who you'd be interested in inviting? I know a few of your friends in town, but certainly not all of them.

Rita.

And then, for somewhere to have it.

Dear Rosmerta,

I know it has been a while since I wrote to you, and indeed some time since I saw you serving at the bar in the Five Alarm, but I hope this note won't come as too much of a shock.

I trust you received an invitation a few days ago from Gilderoy Lockhart, who is to 'marry' Julian Avery on June 6. I'm rather hoping he might let me throw him a 'hen party' (because he is most definitely the bride of the pair, as I'm sure you know quite well). You might be surprised that I'd be the one throwing it, but I think I'll save that explanation for a time when I've had a few drinks.

In any case, I was wondering if hiring a function room at the Five Alarm might be possible within a few days of the big date? I'll have to wait for Gilderoy's response to pick one for certain, but if there is a room to be had, may I hire it?

Regards,

Rita Skeeter
