"Well then, perhaps if you'd all care to break into smaller groups then, I think we'll start with some basics. If those primarily interested in classical or operatic music would form around the sofa area, those interested in jazz, swing, blues and similar music over in the corner, anyone interested in modern favorites like those from the WWN or muggle radio should gather around the piano. I believe that those categories cover most of the interests expressed by our members ( ... )

Marietta listened as Mr Dearborn explained how people should divide up. She was an alto, with a somewhat low singing voice, and she felt comfortable only with WWN and Muggle songs, so she moved to the group near the piano.

"I'm Marietta Edgecome," she said to the group. "It's nice to meet all of you. I sing a bit. During the war I lived in Paris for two years. While I was there I enjoyed going to karaoke nightclubs. That's a Muggle club where you get up on stage and sing along to recorded music," she continued, hoping she didn't seem patronising. "Anyway, I enjoy singing, but I can't play any instruments."

After everyone had been given a chance to interact in their smaller groups and get to know each other, Caradoc called for attention. It was getting late and time to wrap up.

"Once again I'd like to thank you all for coming. Hopefully you have all enjoyed yourselves. There are a few others who wanted to be here this evening who couldn't make it, and I think we need to determine when we wish to meet again as a large group to give them a chance to attend. I thought perhaps monthly meetings of the entire club and whatever arrangements the smaller groups wish to work out between themselves? Would this be agreeable?" There was a show of hands with the majority voting yes and a few requests for bi-weekly meetings, but overall most people seemed to like the once a month idea.

"Well then, we're adjourned until next time. Have a pleasant evening."
