Unfolding, the day had revealed further intricacies of the previous night's occurence. At the day's opening, they had known the general and some specifics matters regarding River Road, the hospital, and the power plant. Information had come throughout the day, first with the revelation of destruction in the marketplace, then in a myriad of particulars regarding every area. The night had been dedicated to preliminary investigations, to documenting the initial images and taking statements, righting what could be fixed promptly and without damage to their case files

Ernie took the seat across from Mr. Robards. "That's why I came, sir. To see what assistance I can be." The older Auror looked tired; Ernie expected that he'd been up all night. Suddenly, he felt inadequate for having slept through the whole episode. Especially when he thought of Eleanor locked in her bathroom.
Shaking his head slightly to empty it of that image, he said, "I'm sorry I was called away. But I'm here now. For good. What would you like for me to do?"
"Oh? Good, good..." He paused for a moment, mind attempting to draw a connection between the file before him and another, but which other? Gawain glanced across the room, noted another stack of papers; yes, it was there, on top. Crossing to retrieve these, he looked over them as he returned, nodded. Yes, that made sense enough; more information matching up, becoming sensible

It sounded like he was supposed to be the bloody welcome wagon. To provide comfort.
Ernie struggled to keep his face from showing his disappointment. As he walked into headquarters, another junior auror had told him that they had one of the troublemakers in custody. That was something useful--interrogations. Merlin, even patrolling the actual town would be more useful. The troublemakers could be holed up in one of the still empty properties for all they knew.
"Hospital. Yes, sir," he said. "I..." He thought about his promise to Eleanor about picking her up at six. "I'll be there first thing in the morning, sir. If that's alright."
