Ginny had tried valiantly to sleep in, throwing the covers over her head several times only to pull them down again after a minute to stare at the ceiling. She'd finally given up at 9 a.m. and had taken a long, hot shower, her shoulder against the frosted glass as she held onto the shower head, letting the hot water cascade around her as she wondered, for not the first time since
having dinner with Adrian, what the hell she was doing. She groaned, tilting her head up to let the water blast at her face. "I am so out of my league. If I were any further out of my league, I'd be on another planet."
That's a great observation. One I believe I tried to point out before you gave him the green light to kiss you.
'Yes, yes, I know but he is my dearest friend.'
Yup, and now he's your dearest friend that you're going away to a tropical island for the weekend with.
She winced and turned the water off, pushing the shower door open to grab a towel. Drying off, Ginny crossed to the vanity where she began pulling a brush through her hair, she sighed, speaking to her reflection. "His parents are going to be there. They're going to be expecting him to show up with some bloody perfect model, never-a-hair-out-of-place girl. If I didn't have the 'friend' clause to fall back on, I think I'd put my head in the oven."
To your credit, he does seem to genuinely enjoy your company… for a Slytherin, that is. I wonder, is that quite like a cat enjoys the company of a mouse, do you think?
'I will absolutely not entertain any of those thoughts about Adrian. He most certainly would not… He's been my friend and never…'
Haven't you ever wondered why it is that you two have gotten along so well?
'No. We just have. It's never felt wrong.'
Then maybe you'll be okay. That's if you manage to pack before he gets here.
"Oh shit." Ginny dropped the brush and scrambled from the bathroom, pulling open her trunk she dug a
pair of jeans and a nice top before accio'ing her backpack, which she deftly packed with all the essentials for a weekend in the tropics. Setting the pack by the door next to her new broom, Ginny headed for her desk to find something to occupy herself with until Adrian arrived.
Seeing the Lestrange man's notes in her top desk drawer, Ginny tugged a bit of parchment from her pile and began to write.
Dear Mr. Lestrange,
Your notes have been proving most helpful and I believe I may have enough of a theory to necessitate taking a closer look at your scars. If there is an evening available to you next week, and you still desire to work with me on this endeavor, I would ask that you owl me with a day and time most convenient to you.
Sincerely,
Healer Ginevra Weasley
Reading the missive over once more, she folded it up and sent her own on its way.
