The knock at the door pulled Remus away from his cleaning. Amazing how much dirt and mess could pile up over the course of a week, particularly when one didn't have a lot of time to clean. Yes, he was busier but never had teaching been more fun. Thursday, though -- Remus found he had a corner of time in the afternoon before Bill was set to arrive. Thus, clean it was.

He wiped his hands on his trousers, black streaks from dust colouring the khakis. Figured. It always figured.

Running a hand through his hair, Remus padded towards the door and opened it for Bill. "Right on time," Remus said with a smile. "Come on in and I'll put some tea on."

Bill nodded and grinned hesitantly following Remus inside. He hung his coat up on one of the pegs next to the door and walked over to the kitchen. "How've you been? It's been . . . a long time since the last I saw you," he said leaning against one of the counters and watching Remus bustle about preparing tea.

"I've been well," Remus answered, his reply muffled by the fact that he was sticking his head into a cupboard looking for a cannister of tea. Judging by the tone of Bill's owl a few days previous, Remus suspected he'd be in for something calming. Remus had his own 'blend' of calming teas. It was funny, really. He was pants at potions but give him an opportunity to blend teas and he could come up with the most amazing concoctions.

"Really, the more important question," Remus said, turning around to face Bill once more, "Is how you've been."

Bill tried to hide a grimace, but knew he fell far from succeeding. "I've been better," he replied honestly. Remus and Ginny were the only ones he'd be that honest to. Fleur would see through his lies, but it was still second nature to gloss over the pain. "The moon's pull - it's been getting stronger over the past few years. I didn't want to admit it until this past one."

There were ideas floating in the back of his head, though. However, Remus wasn't about to bring them up -- at least not yet. He didn't want to raise his hopes, only to dash them. It had happened to Remus once before. Some thought they might have had the cure for lycanthropy, but instead it was only a temporary relief. And in the end had made him crazier than normal. Wolfsbane was the only thing that would ever help.

However, the knowledge that his affliction could never be cured had nearly destroyed him. He wouldn't put Bill through the same thing.

"We'll find something eventually, Bill," Remus said with a slight smile. "In the meantime, I want you to keep that journal as I requested. Write down everything you remember of the moon and the days following. Nothing is insignificant, and nothing will turn my stomach either."

Remus stood, crossing the room and gently laid a hand on Bill's shoulder. "We'll figure this out. I promise."

Bill nodded, the hope sinking in him fast. He wasn't looking for a cure for lycanthropy. He knew that was a near impossibility. All he wanted was a bit of monthly relief from the rage and the fear he'd harm Fleur. "Thanks Remus. I'll start the day after the next full moon."

He finished the dregs of his tea with a single gulp and stood to leave. "I've imposed on you long enough. Thank you for the tea and sorry about the . . . yeah. Anyway, have a safe moon and if you ever want to stop by you have an open invitation to come over whenever you like."

Remus did feel awful. He wished he had the answers for Bill, rather than some vague ones. By no means was Remus an expert in lycanthropy, but after dealing with it for forty years, he had a good idea as far as what to expect. But Bill was different -- the anomoly.

He had no idea how to help and it completely fashed him.

Standing as well, Remus clapped a hand on Bill's shoulder. "Thank you, and also -- you've never imposed. Stop by any time you'd like. My door is always open to you, invitation or not." He said nothing about the dominance battle. It didn't need to be addressed again. "Stay safe as well, and I'll speak to you again soon. Take care, Bill."
