Alex, Alison, Ben, Sam, Sarah

You wake up on the floor with a pounding headache and the sensation of knowing time has passed, like having slept through a long car or plane ride. For some of the population of the school this may be what normally happens on a Saturday evening, but there are several factors to consider here.

1. This is definitely not the Pavilion.

2. Getting up ( Read more... )

Allison will, likely, apologize profusely when things are less obviously conspiring to kill them. As it is, she stops watching the horrid display and snaps out of it to discard her remaining sandal and shove her feet into Sam's shoes which she is immensely thankful forAllison tangles her fingers up with Ben's so they can again be running and definitely not finding out what the hell else those little monsters will do to each other or being eaten by the woods or the angry wolf lurking so near. She actually takes a turn at being useful for once and points ahead of them where light is shining. "Up there!" An end to the forest, thank god, and the next obstacle. The lights are bright, almost welcoming, but the welcome's clearly to be taken with a grain of salt, considering events thus far ( ... )

At that, Allison starts counting aloud, throwing out a breathless warning that Sarah needs to look out around a certain number and then seamlessly goes back to counting.

At least she's doing something towards the ends of saving Alex and that's all that matters. Keeping everyone safe and getting Alex back.

Ben just sort of . . . holds his breath; at the rate the centrifuge is spinning his breath is pretty short anyway. He doesn't want to distract Sarah, so he doesn't bother saying anything aloud, but he's keeping a careful eye on the spikes as they go up and down, with occasional glances down to check on her progress.

Sam follows her down as close to the ground as he can get while still being able to do what Sarah needs done. He can't exactly grab her and pull her back if he's still standing, right? Not that being down here is exactly easy in his thing.

He won't tell her to be careful. It doesn't need saying. "Watch the spikes. I've got her," he will tell Ben, quietly. Taking your eyes off those for a even a second could be bad, right?

Sarah continues inching closer and closer--she'd like to do a run-and-grab, but the gravity intensity is such that she's pretty sure that's actually impossible. Allison's warning makes her go still, watching the spikes pause half a foot from her torso, and she lets out a shaky breath. All right. Keep going. They're going up now and she doesn't have much time.

Second five, and she's close.

Second ten, and she's closer, but she has to get up to the key to get it, and that takes a little longer ( ... )

When Sarah has the key, Allison resists shouting for joy and keeps counting. When Sarah isn't moving fast enough, she starts counting louder. When she sees Sarah start to get pinned she cries out, "Sam!" with all the air in her lungs; he'll know what he needs to do.

Ben's rarely as loud as Allison about anything, but somewhere around second 23 or 24 he swallows down a strangled cry of panic, his fists clenching uselessly against the wall.

He does know what he needs to do, thank you Allison. He grabs Sarah's hand and pulls as hard and as fast as he possibly can. He's keeping his eyes on her, not on the spikes and not on anything else but her. Oh yes. He pulls, concentrating on getting her back over to relative safety.

The pulling results in some flesh being neatly torn from Sarah's back, though it blessedly is less in strips and more little chunks. Which is better, one wonders! (Neither. At all. Ow.) She hisses and kind of makes a tiny panting almost-scream of a noise when she's pressed against one of the mats, face half-hidden.

With her other hand, she opens her palm and displays the gold key.

With no one available to visit a spiky death upon, the ride finally cycles down, just about as slow to finally stop as it was to get going fast enough to keep those spikes coming down so quickly.

It stops and Allison, edging along the wall just in case, heads toward Sam and Sarah because holy shit. "Sarah, are you all right?" Stupid question but hey, whatever. She'll at least try to like dress the wounds, makeshift and whatnot. "You. God, thank you. Thank you so much."

Staying close to the wall still seems like a good idea, but Ben pulls at least a couple inches away as soon as he can move relatively normally again; next move, head over to Sam and Sarah as quick as he can. "Hey, um--"

There's a moment's hesitation-- why must this always happen in an emergency-- but he tugs his shirt up halfway, not quite sure. "I can spare this. For a bandage, or something."

Sam takes a quick look at Sarah, making a brief face. "Let's get you fixed up and then...I don't know. Get the hell out of here. Okay?" It seems a valid question. It is a valid question.

He's starting to wish he'd kept his jacket, as gook covered as it was.

"I--"

She takes a deep breath; however she just moved right there kind of hurt. "I'm fine, we need to get out of here first."

In all likelihood she will probably at least need those marks on her back looked at, but the centrifuge door has swung open and she really wants to bail just in case the Gravitron gets any cute ideas and starts up again. Sarah finds her way to her feet, and starts toward the exit.

She actually is kind of wondering how she'll explain giant puncture wounds to her dad when she gets home. Jesus.

"I'm looking at your back after though," Allison assures, mostly because she is worried. "Not. That I'm a paramedic or anything but my aunt's a little nuts, I know how to do mostly basic first aid." Your weird justifications make no sense to anyone but you, Allison. Sighing, Allison offers Sarah a hand, in case she needs the extra support, and makes for the door herself.

"And before things go crazy or anything, Sam? Thank you. A lot." There dammit, now she's thanked Sam, so screw you theme park.

Well, at least Ben will get to keep his shirt on; this is a good thing for everyone. Instead he elects to just get outside as quickly as possible in case the centrifuge starts moving again, holding the door open for whoever emerges behind him.

". . . hey, uh." He holds a hand out to Sarah once everyone's outside. "Can I see that key?"

Before they go crazy? "No problem." He doesn't believe Sarah that she's fine at all. He has eyes! But this is not really the time to argue that point, is it? "We should start moving again soon."

Keeping on the movie seems a good plan for staying ahead of the crazy to him.
