It's a fine spring evening in the park, and Caleb's got a light enough load of homework that he's convinced his parents to let him go out and do something *fun* before getting to work on it. He's taken this opportunity to head to the park ( Read more... )

Gar is visiting the park, ostensibly because growing boys need lots of exercise and fresh air, and really because parental figure type couples need some alone time every now and again to do things that would make Gar make huge ewww noises and flail around in horror, so it's a mutually beneficial arrangement. For the local park animals, as well, since he always brings them some food - bits of bread for the ducks and/or fish, and a bag of peanuts and seeds for the birds and squirrels. This is clearly why they like him, unless it's because he's delicious as well, in... which case, bringing food is a good safety net ( ... )

Growing boys do need lots of exercise and fresh air; that's why Caleb is here being an awesome high school kid who plays with the little kids and not because it inflates his ego to beat the shit out of them.

It may or may not be a good thing that he notices the wave. He waves back, but his expression changes - for a brief moment - into that B| that Gar is so intimately familiar with, before he gets back to pitching. Kids need to keep playing their game, after all.
