yesterday was my last day filling in at the daycare. i usually dress more "utilitarian" (read: wear pants which for me tends to =boring) for kid wrangling. i find these salmony cords to be a pretty noteworthy exception, so here is a rare photo of me in pants. the "secret" of my incredibly short legs is revealed once and for all (i seem to think ( Read more... )

i really am loving short sleeved sweaters-- also have it in grey! it's mean to be a tunic/dress on a smaller person, but it works as a normal sweater for me!

I fall more in love with you every time you post. also, I seem incapable of getting pashminas to work. bah.

i think the key with me for pashminas is all in the tying and folding. i usually think most fashion theory is bunk & obviously feel compelled to flout all rules, but i read somewhere about stature & accessory working well when they're of comparable scale and it seems to make sense to me. in some ways, i am small (height, nose, short neck) but in other ways large (chest, butt etc) so i don't wear scarves draping down too low or it feels too long for me & out of proportion. it's okay for them to drape wide though, because i've got enough width... it also feels weird for me to wear tiny accessories, because i feel they get lost in the rest of my frame. does any of this make sense?

haha, that's how I feel too. The problem is that they always seem so short or awkwardly shaped and there is weird drapeyness in some places and then it's really thin in others. grr.

with pashminas i distribute some of the bulk to the back usually, so it's not too thick at the front. it may occasionally look like i'm camouflaging some sort of goiter back there (or possibly vampire bites?) but eh, i feel it adds to my mystique.

love the ferocity! and the man shoes. you are making me seriously ponder the purchase of man-shoes (at least they come in my size).

also, today i wore the rust/multi-coloured plaid vest we thrifted a few months ago, with an acid green long-sleeved tee and "neutral" (i.e. tan) pants, as suggested by you. people really loved the shirt, which surprised me, because while i like the colour, i also find it kind of retina-scarring.

apologies.
