So....tonight....A hypnotist came to carthage. Guess who decided to go up there to be one of his "victims". Yep. Yours truly :) It was quite interesting. He put us all to sleep and after that I don't remember too much. But I do remember waking up and going off stage. Next thing you know, my friends are all up in my face saying "you were so ( Read more... )

I think hypnotism is more psychological than anything. Nothing really "mystical" about it, so to speak.

I mean, I'm definitely no expert, but I'm fairly positive it's been proven that one can't be made to do anything while under hypnosis that they would be completely UNwilling to do when they weren't, know what I mean?

I dunno, I'm mostly indifferent.

I think by and large we waste alot of time and energy labeling things we don't understand as "bad" or even "satanic" I do it to ALOT

I agree with where I thinkyou are on the subject....

I think hypnotism is a fantastic tool for self betterment and if someone chooses to allow there mind to be manipulated for entertainment thats great I would do that because it is good fun....however I do not think it should be the first resort or even the last resort it is so inconsistent its one of those "well lets see what this does for ya" so yeah thats my thought on the subject

much love sounds like you had a good time :)

Yeah, It was quite interesting. I found out last night that the person I was telling you about in the beginning of the year (the one who speaks tongues) sent out an email to everyone in the ministry and said we need to stand up against this and not go and that it's a sin to let your mind go to someone. It was quite interesting to read. But I mean, Josh made this point to, that you are kinda "losing partial control" of your mind and body so I mean, would that mean it's a sin to partake in?

i want to see where it says losing partial control of mind and body is a sin.

under that regiment roller coasters are a sin you lose total control of your body

and that girl needs to either A. go get herself some real experience or B. lock herself away in a cabin away from all human interaction.

"We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." 2 Corinthians 10:5

For me that is a powerful verse that leads me to the conclusion that if i am unable to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Jesus, then something is not right about that. Hypnotism is harmless in the sense that this was a playful act done for the comedy of others. No disputing that. Yet at the same time it is giving someone access to your mind and allowing them to do whatever they want. Maybe the greatest sin in all of Christianity, when it comes to this topic, is the unwillingness to let God and His Word be able to access your mind and shape it, but we'll drop $29.95 to let someone else do that to us.
Something to chew on :)
