Wondercon Day 2: IDW Publishing

Mar 01, 2009 00:05

Out of the panels I attended today, IDW Publishing was the most exciting. While I'm all for DC's major events, I've gravitated more and more to IDW for some substance. Life can't all be superheroes, right? So what can we expect from the company this year?

Much more under the cut )

Haha, I'm glad. I usually don't get a chance to geek out about comics due to my work schedule, but I'm making more of an effort to do so :D

oooh? Seriously? Captain Canuck? Man....I remember I used to have a few issues of that when I was a kid - bought secondhand with whatever small allowance I had. It must have been a translated version, but I don't recall well enough. The thing I do remember is that my dad had made a fuss and said I shouldn't be reading "federalist propaganda". lol! I didn't understand a thing about that, really, I just wanted to read about superheroes...

Yep! Wow, that's interesting; federalist propaganda! You never think about stuff like that when you're younger, and when it comes out I wonder if there might be a different reading. The panelist was saying that CC was the only major Canadian superhero and I thought, hang on that can't be true, what about... and couldn't come up with anyone else but Wolverine.

Apparently the original (not sure about translated) CC had problems with printing and distribution, and sometimes the colouring was rubbish but this time it's going to be lovingly re-crafted for IDW. I can't wait!

So not true. lol!

Two words: Alpha Flight. Featuring Northstar, Marvel's first openly gay superhero. (and he's a French-speaking man from Montréal, too, which is like... totally awesome!)

There's more, of course. ;)
