Peter Prejudice

I promised my sister I would post this entry, so here it finally goes.

I went to Disney World with my boyfriend recently, and had a fabulous time. The staff was wonderful, the weather was perfect except for one day, and the parks were phenomenal. However, that is not what this entry is about.

Peter Pan seems to be disappearing.

Tinkerbell is everywhere and Peter Pan is nowhere... )

vacations, disney, movies, characters, rant

XD My brother asked the same question about Pokemon. It was in Japan in Epcot... so I guess that's why? I'm not entirely sure. XD

Yeah, it has been more popular with girls lately than boys, but that's why I thought they'd be pushing Peter Pan MORE lately.

Peter Pan is a pretty unisex movie, but he's such a popular character (or so I thought) I don't understand why he's so hard to find. I didn't know about that Captain EO thing...

I would think some boys may find it easier to relate to Peter Pan than any of the other more manlier franchises... I hope they start pushing him more again (and the fact that he was in the show made me hopeful that maybe they are thinking about doing that). But the tons of Tinkerbell everywhere while I was looking for Peter Pan stuff... it made me very angry at her... XD

Yeah this was very weird...especially since they had enough Tinker Bell, I was sick of her by the end of the trip.

But at least we saw Peter during the Magic Kingdom show in front of the castle

I swear she was mocking us...

Yes, that was very cool. The guy playing Peter was very good too. :)

Congrats on having fun at Disney :D

I don't think MJ is the reason is the reason there wasn't much merchandise. Sounds more like they're keeping Peter Pan stuff off the radar to have a reboot of the franchise in the near future. THAT would disassociate it from MJ more than anything else.

...a reboot is a much more positive and cooler reason for keeping Peter Pan off the radar. I like this idea!! XD

I agree he is loved--probably more than Peter Pan--but I was referring to the negative controversy surrounding him. Disney I was guessing might not have wanted to be associated with THAT. (I'm not trying to insult him in any way mind you, I'm just trying to find an explanation for why Disney would seem to be hiding him--and love him or hate him, the man was often in the spotlight of the media for better or worse) With the bad press, whether it was true or not, Disney might have wanted to distance themselves from association with him ( ... )

My other friend (above) just mentioned a different reason for keeping Peter off the radar could be a reboot of the franchise. This sounds like a much better reason. XD ( ... )
