Writer's Block: The Things We Carry

Mar 12, 2008 12:38

A writing book with pens and/or pencils. XD Not that interesting or surprising I guess, and I don't really use the books too often, but I'm always terrified of being somewhere, getting a fabulous idea for a story or character or something, and then not being able to write it down so I forget it later. But I seriously take it everywhere, in a bag ( Read more... )

writing, music, writing songs, writer's block

Oh Mm Gee! Me too! I haven't taken the test... but I know that's what I do take everywhere. And my iPod. But I do take my phone everywhere. I have felt devastated without my iPod before, and very bare without my pen and paper. Eek!

Not too good at coming up with playlists though. Never works for me.

XDXD I guess that's the mark of a true writer...virtually always has something to write with on them!

:) And yeah, I never used to even able to write to music before. Not until I moved into my dorm and had my suitemate constantly making noise that I had to figure out a way to drown out (and i don't have earplugs), so I started depending on songs that I could still write to without being distracted, but could still drown her out. XD And now I can write to music!

But different things inspire different people, so I figure you just have to find it and go with it when you figure out what form your muse takes. ;)

Most definitely. :D Do you also get excited when you get a new notebook, (the pages are all nice and fresh!) or when you're finally done with an old one, though you feel attached to it? :D

Ah - but I think you misunderstand me. :D If music's not on with me, there can only be three logical explanations (unless the world is ending or I'm too busy to take a second to turn it on) A) I'm watching something on youtube or tv, b) someone near me is watching something on tv or C) I'M singing. :D

It's just the darned playlists. I'm too random to make a coherent one. I think I've got one that's 'mellow', but it was kind of just songs I liked at the time of creation that had a slower tempo. *rolls eyes*

But yeah - my muse is complex, like me. So many different things inspire her. Music helps. :D

XD Yes!!! I do!! XD And sometimes I end up just wanting to buy a new blank book just because I love blank books...

But yes, I do feel attached to older ones when I finish....

Oh! XD Okay, I get it now. Thank goodness for headphones though...you can listen to music without bothering other people.

But yes, muses are very complex...I hate when I feel inspired after looking at a painting or watching a dance or something but I don't know what for!! Music at least, when I feel inspired, I can sort of make something out of it by working off the words that moved me....

XD Yes!!! Me too!! Especially when I was in class in high school or something, I'd end up writing ideas and stuff on the back of dittos--which sucked if I ended up having to hand them in or something! My backpack was a scary place full of random papers and dittos scribbled with ideas...
