Well, two updates, my first SG1 fic(or at least the first chapter) and a random little thing I came up with yesterday.

Summary: Serai's back, with an alarming announcement.

One week later

Elizabeth was beginning to dread any sort of meeting with John, with or without his team. They always led to something new that would turn her world upside down.

On top of that, she really wasn’t in the mood for any more tests from Carson.

However, she didn’t really have much of a choice in the matter this evening. Carson and asked for a meeting with John, Elizabeth and John’s team to discuss the test results and what they were going to do. John and his team had been on city duties for the past week helping to explore and clean up any parts still left from the storm.

“Elizabeth?”

She looked up from the report she was pretending to read.

“Yes Carson.”

“We’re ready.”

“What?”

He sighed and came across to her desk. He looked down at her concerned.

“The meeting. It’s just after 7.”

“Really?”

She looked at watch quickly.

“Oh, I must have gotten carried away with these reports.”

She coughed slightly and got up.

“You’re worried, aren’t you?”

“I’m worried he’s done something to me, or that there’ll be something new to wreak havoc. As long as Serai doesn’t turn up, I think we’re okay.”

Carson smiled and walked across to the conference room with her. They entered to find all of John’s team waiting, including John.

“Forget something?”

Elizabeth didn’t dignify John with a response, or even look at him. She just took her seat and waited for Carson to begin.

“Well, now that we’re all here. The test results prove only one thing.”

He stopped and looked around. John and Elizabeth were leaning forward on the table in anticipation. Ford and Teyla were just looking at him. Rodney was doodling on a piece of paper.

“There’s nothing wrong with either you.”

John stared at him, mouth hanging open. Elizabeth just sat back thinking.

“So, now what?”

Ford looked around the room hoping for a reply.

“I don’t know,” said Elizabeth softly.

Carson sighed.

“Have you two felt anything over the last week?”

“What do you mean?”

“Well, feeling ill, things like that.”

“I’ve been getting headaches and…” began Elizabeth.

“And feeling sick,” John finished.

They both looked at each other in shock.

“That’s impossible. When we’re you getting them?”

“When I was working, what about you?”

“When I was exploring the city. And my damn wrist…”

“It seems to itch all the time?”

“Yep.”

“Same.”

Everyone was staring at them, trying to interpret the conversation to come to a conclusion.

“Maybe, we should try going back to normal then, if there’s nothing wrong. Sending the team off world and such. Carson?”

Carson opened his mouth to speak, but it was someone else who replied.

“I wouldn’t advise that.”

Elizabeth prayed she was hearing things, but sure enough, Serai was sitting in one of the empty chairs. John groaned loudly at the sight of her. Rodney had finally stopped doodling and was looking at Serai. His mouth was hanging open slightly.

“Stop drooling Doc.”

Rodney glared across at Ford. Teyla sighed, it seemed everyone had lost any ability to think.

“Serai, may I ask why we should not go off world?”

“Well, to put it simply, because Elizabeth and John will fall into a coma and it is highly possible that they could die.”

John wondered whether he could try to throttle Serai again. Elizabeth just wanted to wake up and it all to be a dream.

“Thanks for that Serai,” muttered John. “Wanna explain why?”

“It’s because you’re tied by blood, you should never be far apart. The further apart you are, the more ill you become. And at the moment, if one dies, you both die.”

“What about you and your husband? He went to Earth, and he must have lived.”

“He did. It is possible to stop this effect from happening. At this point in time you are two separate bodies, who should be as one. This will continue until your two bodies are joined as one, as they should be.”

No one said anything for a moment, unsure about what Serai had just said. But slowly Elizabeth began to understand.

“No. Serai, we can’t do that. No!”

John looked across at Elizabeth’s horrified face and then to Serai’s calm expression.

“It’s the only way.”

“Will someone tell me what’s going on?”

Rodney’s eyes suddenly became wide.

“That is just wrong.”

“What?”

Carson sighed.

“It is possible, chemicals in the brain could neutralise the effect of the bands.”

“Will someone please tell me what is going on!?”

Ford and Teyla were also still a little unsure. Serai looked straight at John and spoke in a calm level voice.

“You must consummate your marriage.”

John held very still, and then his face became pale.

“Oh crap.”

Ford began to laugh uncontrollably. Teyla was still none the wiser.

“I do not understand.”

Everyone looked at her trying to figure out how to say it

“John and Elizabeth must partake in…” Carson tried, but couldn’t say it. It was just too weird.

“A more intimate relationship.” Serai finished. She could see they were trying to be polite about it.

Teyla raised her eyebrows.

“I see.”

“Is this the only way?”

Elizabeth was just one step away from begging.

“Well…I mean yes. It’s the only way.”

John and Elizabeth looked at each other, but neither could meet the others eyes. The idea as just too much to comprehend.

“I think I’ll be going now.”

Serai quickly took her leave before someone tried to kill her.

The scene left behind was quite interesting. Rodney looked like he was going to throw up. Carson was looking extremely uncomfortable. Ford was trying very hard not to laugh. Teyla was sat calmly, still feeling very confused. John hadn’t moved at all. He had one hand in the air from where’d he’d been pointing at Serai ready to respond to the comment. However, he’d gotten a very different comment than he’d been expecting. Elizabeth was sitting with her head in her hands not sure what to say or do.

“Maybe we should let you two talk,” said Carson. He wanted to be out of there as fast as possible.

“Yeah.”

Everyone else got up and practically ran out of the conference room. Elizabeth looked up at John, but he was in no state by the look of it.

“I’m going to go and take a bath to think about things John. Are you going to be okay?”

John didn’t even look like he’s heard her.

Elizabeth sighed and headed down towards their quarters. A nice long hot bath; that was what she needed. Then she and John could sit down and try to talk about it like rational adults.

What was she thinking? She’d just been told that she had John had to sleep together so he could go off world again! This was going to take a very long bath, and possibly a large amount of alcohol. This was no time for rational thinking.

Summary: Things are going bad from worse, and no one's coping well.

There was no window in her cell, so Elizabeth didn’t know how long she was in the cell. With her hands tied behind her, she couldn’t see her watch either. However long it was, Koyla eventually returned.

“Hello again Doctor Weir. Or may I call you Elizabeth? Seems little point in being formal now.”

Elizabeth made no move to respond, she just sat staring past him.

“I thought you might react like that.”

Koyla nodded his head. Two guards came in behind him and untied her hands and feet. Feigning weakness, they helped her to her feet. Taking her chance, she put into practice the fighting skills John had taught her. She kicked upwards with her left foot. As the guard fell back, she loosened her arm from the other guards grip. While he looked on in shock, she hit him across the face. As he fell backwards, she spun round and kicked the other guard in the head. With her heavy military boots on, she knocked him out instantly. Turning back to other guard, he rushed at her, but she was ready. She kicked him in the stomach, and as he doubled over, she kicked him in the head. He also fell to the ground unconscious.

Turning to face Koyla, she expected him to look scared or angry. Instead he stood smiling.

“You’re very good.”

Elizabeth glared at him, and launched herself at him. She aimed a kick to his groin, but he raised his knee up. He caught her leg, and pushed it sideway, turning her. She went to punch him in the head, but he stepped back. Angry, she began to lose control of her actions. She punched and kicked out wildly. She couldn’t see it, but Koyla was pushing her backwards. Slowly but surely, she was being backed up towards the wall.

Koyla took another step forward. Elizabeth took another step back and slammed into the wall.

She turned to move, but Koyla placed his arm on the wall trapping her. She turned the other was, and Koyla did the same again. Elizabeth faced him head on.

“But you’re not good enough. No doubt the incompetent Sheppard taught you.”

Elizabeth’s anger flared up again, and she rammed her knee up. Again Koyla was ready for her. He pushed his knee up, catching on the inside of hers. He pushed sideways, forcing her legs apart. She tried to hit him, but he grabbed both her arms and pinned them above her head. She desperately tried to struggle, but it was no use. Koyla was heavier and stronger than her. She was trapped.

“You see; this is what happens when your emotions get the better of you. Now, if I let my emotions get the better of me…”

Koyla trailed off, but Elizabeth knew what he meant. She tried to look him in the eye, to stare him out. But she couldn’t bring herself to meet the eyes of this monster.

Behind Koyla, the guards began to groan. Elizabeth held deathly still, and Koyla released her. She breathed a sigh of relief, and rubbed her arms where he’s held her in his tight grip. He smiled at her.

Suddenly, he lashed out, hitting her hard across the face. Elizabeth wasn’t ready for it, and was knocked to the ground. As she lay there, she coughed and spat on the floor. She looked down to find blood. Wiping her hand across her mouth, she felt something warm on her hand. She looked at her hand; there was a line of blood across it. Turning she looked up at Koyla. He was stood towering over her.

“That’s how you deal with a rebellious prisoner. Now, take her.”

The two guards grabbed her roughly and dragged her to her feet. Koyla was smiling at her. He leaned in and whispered into her ear.

“I was hoping you’d do that anyway. Now these two have an even better reason for beating you senseless.”

He pulled back and waved a hand to the guards. As they walked away down the corridor, he shouted after them.

“Take her boots before you start. Just in case she gets feisty again.”

With a smug smile, he turned and walked back towards the Genii command centre.

----------

John was sitting in his room staring at a picture. It was a little framed picture that sat by his bed at. In the picture, there was Elizabeth stood smiling. He was in it too. He was stood behind her with his arms around her. It had been taken at the party to celebrate the defeat of the Wraith. Just a month later they had once again been plunged in turmoil and conflict.

They weren’t an item. It was hard to explain what they were really. Many were convinced they were dating. Some had thought they’d skipped straight to sleeping together. Most just saw them as very good friends. John wasn’t sure really. It wasn’t the conventional CO and 2IC relationship. They were open with each other, didn’t mind having to share small, confined spaces, they even flirted, a little.

It wasn’t love.

It was more than that.

The sound of the door opening brought John back to the present.

“Colonel.”

Normally John would have jumped up at the sound of Caldwell, ready to salute his superior. John had never saluted Elizabeth though, except as a joke.

“Colonel.”

John turned his head slowly to face him. He didn’t understand what he was expecting. For him to greet him warmly or to act like the model soldier.

“I understand that this must be hard for you, to lose someone so close.”

“She’s not dead, that’s the point. She’s been captured.”

“I know that, and you also know that there’s nothing we can do to help her.”

John moved to the edge of the bed.

“What?”

“We can’t mount a rescue mission.”

John stood up and met Caldwell’s level gaze.

“We have to, you have no idea what they’ll do to her. You have no idea what this will do to me!”

“I can only imagine, but we can’t just walk into the Genii base.”

“Use the Daedalus, beam her out!”

“We’ve thought of it already, the base is too well protected. The beam won’t penetrate that deep down as well as through their defences.”

“You have to try!”

“I won’t risk it!”

John raised his hand, ready to beat some sense into Caldwell.

“Striking a superior officer will have you court marshalled and thrown in the brig Colonel!”

Caldwell stared John in the face, until he saw his arm drop.

“That’s better. You need to keep you personal feelings in check here Sheppard, and try to find a way to help her. You’re no good to her locked in the brig.”

John sighed and looked down.

“You’re right.”

“That’s better. Now, it’s getting late. I suggest you rest, and we’ll start to figure things out in the morning.”

“Yes sir.”

“Goodnight Sheppard.”

“Night.”

With that Caldwell turned and left Sheppard’s quarters, but he already knew that John wouldn’t be sleeping tonight.

Summary: They spend everyday risking their lives to save the world from alien races, but it’s something as simple as a car crash that manages to cause the most damage.

Jack glanced at the clock. 7am. He hadn’t been ready this early for work since…well forever. He could even beat Daniel in. He doubted that, and he knew for a fact he’d never beat Carter in. She was always there long before he arrived. He was becoming convinced that she slept in her lab and just didn’t tell anyone.
G
rabbing his jacket, he made his way out of the house. He was just about to get into the car when he heard a noise from the house. It was his phone.

“For crying out loud.”

He debated for a second whether to just leave it and pick up the message when he got back. Then again, it could be important. He ran back to the door and opened it just in time to hear the answer machine click off. He glared at the little red flashing light.

He walked across and hit the button to play back the message.

“Sir, it’s Carter. I’m having a few car troubles and I’m not sure how long it will be before I can get it fixed. I’m ringing around now, so I may be a little late this morning. I’ve tried ringing the SGC, but the phones must be acting up. Could you let General Hammond know? Thanks sir.”

The message ended and Jack couldn’t help but smile. He was going to beat Carter into the SGC. He had to leave quickly.

He arrived at the SGC just after 7:30am feeling very proud. He got out of his car and smiled smugly at the empty spaces usually occupied by Carter and Daniel. He wasn’t sure what he’d done right today, but it was something good.

He hurried down to the locker rooms to change out of his civilian clothes and then headed to the commissary. Sure enough, Teal’c was sat eating breakfast.

“Good morning T.”

“Good morning O’Neill. You seem extremely happy this morning. Is there a particular reason for this.”

“Indeed. I got into work before Daniel and Carter.”

“This is unusual.”

“Yes it is. I am always late. Carter rang to say she was running late. Asked me to tell Hammond, but it can wait.”

“Will that not result in Major Carter being reprimanded when she arrives?”

“Nah. Hammond likes her. She’ll be fine.”

By 8:15 there was still no sign of Daniel or Sam. Sitting in Daniel’s lab, Jack and Teal’c were sat trying to work out what could be keeping them.

“Maybe Daniel’s got car trouble too?”

“That is possible O’Neill.”

“As for Carter, maybe we should ask Fraiser? Her and Carter are good friends.”

The pair headed down to the infirmary to find Janet sitting in her office.

“Unless one of you is sick, you had better have a good reason for being here.”

Jack smiled at her as she glared up at him.

“Oh come on, can’t we get along like civilised people?”

Janet raised her eyebrows.

“Okay okay. Have you heard from Carter this morning?”

“No, why?”

“Well she rang me at about 7 to say she was having car troubles, but she still hasn’t turned up and hasn’t rung anyone.”

“I see. I’ll try her cell phone.”

She picked up the phone and quickly dialled the number.

“You know her cell number?”

“Of course.”

After a few seconds she put the phone down again.

“What you do that for?”

“Straight to voice message.”

“Great. Heard from Daniel?”

“No. He not in either?”

“No, that’s why I asked if you’d heard from him.”

Janet was going to retort when a panting Daniel appeared in the door.

“Sorry I’m…late…traffic…bad…big crash.”

“It’s okay.”

Janet got up and got him to sit down and get his breath back. She glared up at Jack.

“You could have done more than just say, ‘It’s okay’.”

“Why would I want to do that?”

“Really Janet, I’m fine.”

“That’s good to hear. Now, you said there was a crash.”

“Yeah, big pile up. A van, two cars and a motorbike. According to the radio, one car swerved to avoid something on the road, making the van swerve and hit the motorbike. The other car went into the back of the wreckage.”

“Ouch. Who came off worst?”

Jack was so busy concentrating on Daniel; he didn’t notice Janet hurry across to the phone again.

“Motorcyclist for definite. Said she’d gone to hospital, but was in a really bad way. Second car driver apparently has minor injuries and the other two got away with barely a scratch.”

“A female motorcyclist?”

Daniel looked across at Janet who was holding the phone to her ear.

“Yes Janet, why?”

“I just wondered.”

She suddenly slammed the phone down and began to dial again.

“Is something wrong Doctor Fraiser?”

“Sam was complaining about her car for ages. She said if things got really bad she’d have to ride her bike in.”

“You don’t think?”

“It’s a possibility.”

The room fell silent as Janet held the phone to her ear. Again, she slammed the phone down.

“No answer at home or on her cell phone. Something’s wrong, I just know it.”

As if to reinforce her comment, a voice echoed out of the speakers around the base.

“SG1 and Doctor Fraiser, please report to General Hammond’s office immediately.”

“Please no,” whispered Janet.

The four hurried to the office ignoring the looks from the other members of personnel. They arrived to find Hammond looking up at them gravely.

“Please come in and shut the door behind you. Also, you may wish to sit down.”

There were a couple of chairs in the room, but everyone remained standing.

“What’s up General?”

“I just received a call in relation to a serious road accident this morning. Involved were 2 cars, a-“

“We know.”

“Excuse me Colonel?”

“We know about the accident, Daniel heard it on the radio.”

“Then you know that the motorcyclist was very seriously injured in the accident.”

“Yes.”

“Well, the phone call was to tell me that the motorcyclist has been identified as Major Carter.”

Janet placed a hand across her mouth and shook her head. Daniel looked away trying not to think about it. Teal’c bowed his head and closed his eyes. Jack tried to keep his composure.

“Is it bad sir?”

“Yes it is. She is in a critical condition. We are attempting to contact the Tok’ra to let Jacob know. We are also attempting to locate her brother to tell him the news. In the meantime, I think it would be best if you remain on the base.”

“What?”

Jack stared in shock. He couldn’t expect them to leave Carter alone in some hospital bed.

“Until we contact Major Carter’s family, I fell you should all remain on the base. Her condition, as I have said, is critical. They do not need you four there causing trouble. I promise you will be kept informed and when the time is right, you will all be allowed to visit her. In the meantime, I suggest you try to contact anyone you think should know about the situation.”

Everyone nodded.

“Cassie. We’ll need to tell Cassie.”

Daniel reached across and placed an arm around Janet’s shoulder.

“Maybe we should all go to tell Cassie. We need to stick together right now, right? Right Jack?”

Jack ground his teeth slightly, unable to believe that everyone was just going along with this.

“Yeah, sure, ya betcha.”

The contempt in his voice was barely disguised.

“Well, we’d best be going then.

The four left the office in silence still trying to take in what they’d just been told.

“It’s weird,” said Daniel as they entered the lift. “We spend everyday risking our lives to save the world from alien races, but it’s something as simple as a car crash that manages to cause the most damage.”

Notes: It probably makes no sense as it's nothing but dialogue.

“How about Violet?”

“Too old fashioned. You’re worse at this than Ford.”

“Well you suggest something then.”

“Emma?”

“Maybe. Not very catchy.”

“Lemme guess, we need something people will remember?”

“Sort of.”

“Louise?”

“Come on. John. Try a little harder.”

“Elizabeth?”

“Yes?”

“No, the name Elizabeth.”

“Let’s think about that…”

“Ow! That hurt!”

“Serves you right.”

“Okay, I’m sorry. How about Mary?”

“How about Mary-Sue?”

“I like it. I like it a lot.”

“Good, so Mary-Sue it is?”

“Yep. Let’s go tell her.”

“Where are you going Sheppard?”

“I’m going to tell the new Wraith her name McKay. Wanna come?

“No thanks.”

“Your loss.”

“Tell me you didn’t have anything to do with this?”

“A little.”

“Shouldn’t you be thinking of names for the baby instead of the new Wraith?”

“Probably. But I’, not exactly going to name my shild Mary-Sue, am I?”

“I’d hope not. So, it’s Mary-Sue?”

“Yep.”

“Steve, Bob and Mary-Sue. Remind me why we name the Wraith?”

“I don’t know. John started it, he thinks it’s funny.”

“Well, I really can’t wait to see what names John comes up with for the baby.”

“John’s not allowed to name children. Ever. I’m choosing the name.”

“Sounds like a plan. Out of interest, who came up with the name Mary-Sue?”

“Me.”

“God help you child Elizabeth!”

We also now have a banner. It's crap, but it's the first thing I've done on PSP7. Well, second, but 2nd but I saved the first in the wrong file format, so I can't use it yet.
