Title: Things Can Have Meaning Author: gillo Rating: G Word Count: 858 Prompt 156 - Het Pairings Characters/Pairing (if any) Spike/Buffy, Dawn A/N: Valentines are for happy endings. Post NFA schmoop. ( Things Can Have Meaning )
I'm appalled that Buffy would wait a year to unpack her memories, except that we all know she's a sensitive girl. And all that dust runs havoc with one's allergies. *sniff*
Still, her timing was perfect. Too perfect? Was someone under orders to contact a certain someone else when the time was ripe? Nah. That would be a conspiracy...

Hey, she's the Queen of Denial, let's face it. And memories of Sunnydale might well be painful. Especially if she suspected Dawn of slipping something Spikeish in the bag.

Buffy doesn't do conspiracy. And Dawn? Nah. Perish the thought.
Buffy clutched the lighter. No way was anybody else touching this. Not now. Never. He glared at Dawn who retreated without another word.
Left alone, Buffy sank to the floor, stroking the metal, rubbing it against her cheek, till it became as warm as her own skin. She heard nothing, saw nothing, her entire being focussed on the single object which was all that remained of her vampire
That's such a Buffy thing, never talking about it - just sitting there stroking the metal.

Not so big with the words, our girl. Unless she's making a speech to the troops.

I like that it took Buffy a year to unpack her bag; it seems very in character. Nice touch!
Thank you! Buffy always tries to postpone dealing with her emotions, so it made sense to me. Thanks for reading and commenting.
