She sang a nonsense lullaby as she rocked the little boy back and forth. Her fingers twined softly around his curls. She could remember this. Her mummy used to do the same thing for her when she was a small child.
“Dru, come away now. He’s dead. He doesn’t hear your pretty lullaby.”
A sad sigh escaped her.
Angelus held out his hand as Drusilla laid the tiny body in the chair.
Suddenly, Dru bounced up and down, her dark eyes sparkled with excitement. “May I have another one? May I?”
“Whatever your heart desires.”
A slow smile spread across her face as she took his hand and pulled him out into the night. The search for more innocent ones had begun.
