interesting has always been a great compliment in my book. My favourite fanfics, and fanfic authors have always been the ones who've made me see, and consider, new possibilities for characters I might not have liked, or understood, on the show.

So, while I may not have liked the direction that Joss took the show, post-S5, Buffy was certainly a more interesting character as the show developed.
