Mums Are Like That
“She doesn’t mean it, you know.”
Buffy jumped as Spike stepped out of the shadows. “And you’d know that, how?”
He didn’t know why he cared? Told himself he needed her focused on the battle and THAT was why it mattered.
“She was angry, pet. And scared. Only said the things she did to try and get you to stay. Try an’ protect you.” His head tilted slightly as he took in her grief-filled face. “Just give her time; she’ll come ‘round. Mum’s are like that.”
The angry retort died on her lips at the sadness that echoed in his voice.

He ran his hand through his hair and growled quietly to himself before turning back once more to face the eager, expectant eyes of the blonde in front of him.
Harmony’s smile began to falter. “Blondie bear?”
“Harmony. I am only going to say this one last time, so please try to get it through that mass of hollow-fill you call a brain.” He watched as her face dropped and could almost feel sorry for her. Almost.
“Stop putting sodding sugar in my blood!”
