You've caught that sense of isolation and trying to find his place well, I think. And I love this line: "side-kicking evil’s ass with the gang." Very Xander!

You've really captured how at a loss for purpose Xander was at this time yet also how he got past it with his outlook.

Thanks. Season four Xander always struck me as a guy struggling to figure out his purpose and role both in life and in the group. By season five, and, oddly enough, by the end of this drabble, he sort of figured himself out.
