Characters: Illyria, Spike, Lorne, mention of Angel
Note 1: I think I'll make this a thing: for still_grrr prompts I will only write ficlets about characters I hardly ever write. Last time, it was Cordelia. This time, it's Illyria, Spike and Lorne.
Note 2: Illyria playing Crash Bandicoot is what made me love her. The idea of an eons old god-king being introduced to pop-culture just doesn't get old for me.

Angel tried to take it for as long as possible. When he couldn't stand it any more, he left his office.

"Should we leave too?" Illyria asked.

"Don't mind him," Spike replied. "He just hates this part. Makes him cry."

"Is he a weakling?"

The vampire sighed. "It's a sad movie, people are s'posed to cry at it. Doesn't make him a weakling." He turned to the god-king. "Don't tell him I said that, by the way."

Illyria nodded gravely. Spike turned back to the screen, and she did the same.

"Is Little Foot a simpleton?"

"Wha-?"

"He mistakes a mere shadow for one who is desceased," she explained with detached bemusement.

"Look, the kid's mum just died, alright?" Why'd he even agree to watch TV with the overgrown smurf in the first place? Should've known she'd keep interrupting. "He's missing her, and he wishes she was back so much he thinks she's there, even if it's just a shadow. That's what grief does to a person."

"But there's only stone underneath."

"Well he's bloody well realizing that now, ain't he?"

They watched in silence until Lorne walked in a minute later.

"Hey, I just saw the boss-man muttering about something in his eye, but the only thing in there was a big ol' hunk o' sad. Everything okay?" Lorne caught sight of the TV screen. "Oh."

"These pictures make him cry," Illyria informed him. "Spike has been unable to sufficiently explain to me why."

The vampire slouched lower in his chair, and ignored her.

"'salright, blueberry. I get why."

"I dislike this passtime."

Lorne didn't answer her, but sat down and watched.

The movie they're watching is The Land Before Time.
The title of the ficlet is something an old, grizzled dinosaur tells Little Foot after his mother dies.
