Funny, she would have expected Willow to lecture. Two wrongs don’t make a right. But it seemed not a one of them lived in a glass house anymore. The past months had kicked their collective ass, and no one was riding the judgment train now.

She remembered Giles and the Council’s asinine test and still felt the sting. She thought of Willow, Xander and the nature of betrayal.

Funny, the things that go through your head when you’re pummeling the life out of someone who should have been your friend to save someone who should never have been your love.

Faith paused at the door and felt Buffy disappear down Revello Drive. A grim emptiness set in. This wasn’t the plan. She wanted to help, sure, but in charge of this mess?

Wait. Hadn’t she always wanted perfect little Blondie out of the way? So which is it, Faith? You can’t have it both ways.

Locked-up had been rough, with the drab routine and the constant self-control and the women with even tougher shells than hers.

If she could handle that, surely she could lead a bunch of whiny, pain-in-the-ass wannabes in an epic battle against the world’s oldest evil.
