LORD OF THE RINGS
REGULAR CHALLENGE: THE RACE OF MEN
• Though not as exotic as elves or hobbits or dwarves, the race of men are integral to the plot of the Lord of the Rings.
• Your challenge is to icon the humans of the trilogy. Your icons should have at least one human in them, but you can icon more than one human in the same icon if you wish. Please try to avoid using images containing a character of another race.
• You may use any images you wish from both the movies and the books. This includes posters, screencaps, promos, stills, illustrations and fan art.
• You my enter four (4) icons.
• Blend images, crop them to heck, add graphics/textures/brushes, etc.
• Text is allowed, animation (as per usual) is not.
MAIN CHARACTERS FROM THE RACE OF MEN INCLUDE:
Aragorn
Boromir
Faramir
Denethor
Eomer
Eowyn
Theodred
Grima Wormtongue
etc.
Please note that Gandalf and other wizards, while appearing human, are actually a race unto themselves, called the 'Istari'.
THEME CHALLENGE: WEAPONS
• In Tolkein's world, weapons are immensely important. They are needed to fight, of course, but they also have a spirtual quality, often given names by the characters and used to show status.
• Your challenge is to icon any of the weapons used. You can use images of the weapons themselves, or of the characters holding or using their weapons. The weapons should be prominently featured.
• You may use any images you wish from both the movies and the books. This includes posters, screencaps, promos, stills, illustrations and fan art.
• Blend images, crop them to heck, add graphics/textures/brushes, etc.
• You may enter four (4) icons for the THEME CHALLENGE.
• Text is allowed, animation (as per usual) is not.
IMPORTANT WEAPONS INCLUDE:
Aragorn - Narsil/Andúril (the sword that lopped off Sauron's finger)
Frodo - Sting (a dagger given to him by Bilbo)
Gandalf - Glamdring (his sword) and his staff
Merry and Pippin - elven daggers given to them by Galadriel
Gimlie - his axe
Legolas - his bow and the bow given to him by Galadriel
Sam - he uses one of his cooking pans at one point, as well as the dagger given to him by Aragorn/found in the Barrow-Downs
Boromir - his shield
Also, pretty much every character uses a weapon at one point. All of these count.
