long drabble

Everyone had warned him, even Yoohwan, who was supposed to be on his brother’s side. But Junsu didn’t listen. He mindlessly followed his heart. The thunderous beating that it played kept him awake for nights on end. The rhythm was loud, disruptive but beautiful. Oh so beautiful.

The melody was for Park Yoochun.

He didn’t wear leather jackets; didn’t play rock & roll, nor did he ride on a Harley Davidson. But he was the more dangerous kind of bad. His charming smile was enough to capture the hearts of many; his pinkish soft lips glistened with white lies; red velvet voice that soothed anyone who listened to it, even if what it offered were hollow promises of love, lust and everything in between. Yoochun was Junsu’s addiction, and the addiction of so many other lovers.

Junsu knew of this. Jaejoong had been the one who warned him first, telling him about Yoochun’s nightly exploits. He was never a man who slept alone, as the eldest put it. Junsu tread carefully for the first few years. His heart sang notes of love and longing, but he did his best to ignore it, to ignore him. He swore to Jaejoong he really did try his best.

But when Yoochun came onto him one fateful night, Junsu’s defenses crumbled. The older man stank of beer and sweat. Junsu didn’t care.

Heartbreak was inevitable, Junsu knew. His came in the form of a long legged Japanese model he didn’t bother to remember the name of. His only consolation was that Yoochun dumped her one week after sleeping with her-if that was even considered a consolation.

Junsu had accepted it even before it came. The warnings from before weren’t completely useless, but it didn’t mean it hurt any less. He never spoke it but he loved Yoochun, even if he did plan on leaving him. The slightly older man just got a head start.

His heart today still sings a familiar melody. But instead of it singing for the man who left him, it now sings for someone who loves him for who he is. The song is not as loud or beautiful as it once was, but it was helping him heal and calm down. It was enough for Junsu.

Ironically, the heart of the man who broke Junsu’s started singing for him.
